Mark Robert Michael Wahlberg was a member of the rap group Marky Mark where he first gained fame as a teen pop idol before transitioning into a successful actor. Wahlberg’s first appearance in the film industry was in the comedy Renaissance Man (1994), but he got his first lead role in the movie Fear (1996).

9 Ted (2012)

Ted tells the story of John Bennett (Wahlberg), who wished his teddy bear friend, Ted (Seth MacFarlane), would come to life when he was a child. His wish came true, and the two grew up together. Ted was nominated and won awards in multiple ceremonies, including the 2012 Jupiter Awards, 39th People’s Choice Awards, 18th Empire Awards, and 2013 MTV Movie & TV Awards. Wahlberg and Seth MacFarlane were nominated for their role in the film and won the Best On-Screen Duo at the 2013 MTV Movie & TV Awards.

8 Ted 2 (2015)

A sequel to the film Ted (2012), Ted 2 tells the story of Ted, who wishes to have a baby with his girlfriend Tami-Lynn (Jessica Barth), but first, he has to fight a legal battle to prove that he is a person. The film was nominated in five ceremonies, including the 2015 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Awards (AACTA Awards), 2015 Golden Trailer Awards, 2016 MTV Movie & TV Awards, 2016 People’s Choice Awards, and 2016 Saturn Awards. It won the Golden Trailer Award for Best Comedy.

7 The Departed (2006)

The Departed is set in Boston, where an Irish Mob boss Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson), plants a spy, Staff Sergeant Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon), within the police department. Simultaneously, the police place a spy, Trooper William “Billy” Costigan Jr. (Leonardo DiCaprio), within Costello’s mob. Both sides realize what has happened, and it’s a race between Sullivan and Costigan to uncover the identity of the other in time to save themselves. The film received multiple accolades, including but not limited to four Oscars for Best Director, Picture, Film Editing and Adapted Screenplay at the 79th Academy Awards. Wahlberg was also nominated and won Best Supporting Actor at the 2006 Boston Society of Film Critics Awards and Indiewire Critics’ Poll.

In Boogie Nights, Wahlberg plays the role of a troubled porn star Dirk Diggler. He was nominated for Best Lead Actor at the 2nd Golden Satellite and Circuit Community Awards. The movie was also nominated in multiple categories and won awards in various ceremonies, including but not limited to the Artios Awards, 18th Boston Society of Film Critics Awards, 55th Golden Globe Awards, and 1998 MTV Movie Awards.

5 Fear (1996)

Wahlberg got his first film leading role in the movie Fear. In this psychological thriller, Nicole Walker meets and starts dating a charming and mysterious young man named David McCall (Wahlberg). However, she soon realizes that David is not the person she thought he was as she starts to see his darker side. For his role in the movie, Wahlberg was nominated at the 1997 MTV & TV Awards in the category of Best Villain. The film won the Best Movie Song in the same ceremony.

4 Transformers: Age Of Extinction (2014)

Unlike other Transformers films in the franchise, Transformers: Age Of Extinction takes a more serious tone, featuring more risks and death. However, it still does have its comedic moments. Wahlberg got nominated for the Choice Summer Movie Star category at the 2014 Teen Choice Award. The movie was nominated in different categories and won awards in various ceremonies, including the 18th Film Hollywood Awards and 35th Golden Raspberry Awards.

3 Daddy’s Home 2 (2017)

A sequel to Daddy’s home (2015), Daddy’s Home 2 showcases father Dusty (Wahlberg) and step-father Brad (Will Ferrell), now reformed and co-parenting Dusty’s kids, who plan on giving their kids the perfect Christmas. Things don’t go as planned, owing to the arrival of their fathers, who strain their new relationship. Wahlberg was nominated for the Choice Movie Actor in the comedy category at the Teen Choice Awards.

2 Deepwater Horizon (2016)

Based on a true story, Deepwater Horizon narrates the story of the Deepwater Horizon, an oil drilling rig that exploded, sank, and spilled perhaps the largest amount of oil in the Gulf of Mexico. An unending chain of malfunctions occurs during the drilling project, and the workers scramble to survive the disaster. The film was nominated in the Favorite Dramatic Movie category at the 2017 People’s Choice Award. It was also nominated and won awards in various categories at the 2016 Teen Choice Awards and the 88th National Board of Review Awards.

Directed by David O. Russell, Three kings is an entertaining dark comedy war film about the Gulf War and perhaps still one of the best war films ever made. It stars Wahlberg, George Clooney, Spike Jonze, and Ice Cube, who play four American soldiers. Wahlberg, Ice Cube, and Clooney were nominated and won awards in the Favorite Action Team category at the 2000 Blockbuster Entertainment Awards. The film was also nominated for and won Best Film and Director awards at the 1999 Boston Society of Film Critics Awards.
