Chris Hemsworth began his career on television, appearing on the Australian soap opera Home and Away from 2004-2007. After a brief appearance in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek movie, he rose to international super stardom playing the titular role in Thor in the MCU, which then led to several sequels (like the recent, high-grossing Thor: Love and Thunder) and multiple Avengers tie-ins. He has since appeared in several successful films outside the MCU, effectively becoming a household name.
Hemsworth has become known for his success for action/superhero movies. He boasts a strong repertoire including his iconic role as Thor, as well as action packed features such as Snow White and the Huntsman, Cabin in the Woods, and Men in Black: International. His career shows no signs of slowing down, and while it was recently confirmed that Hemsworth’s Thor won’t appear in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, there are lots of upcoming movies he is set to star in that we’re all looking forward to. Here’s a look at every upcoming Hemsworth movie we are excited to see.

Extraction 2
AGBO
Extraction was a huge success for Netflix, with a reported 99 million households watching the first movie in its first four weeks of streaming, per CNET. The movie follows Tyler Rake, a mercenary hired to rescue a crime-lord’s kidnapped son. It’s no surprise that Netflix were quick to commission a sequel, given the film’s massive success. Indeed, Hemsworth and director Sam Hargrave will be returning for Extraction 2. The plot will see Tyler return to another mission, which this time involves infiltrating one of the world’s deadliest prisons to rescue a family who has been kidnapped. The film is expected to be released in late 2022 and will no doubt measure up to the hype of its predecessor.
Furiosa (2024)
Village Roadshow Pictures
Another highly anticipated movie featuring Hemsworth is Furiosa, a prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road, directed by George Miller. The film will predate the events of Mad Max: Fury Road, so will likely give us a bit of a backstory leading to the events of the movie. There’s not a great deal that is currently known about the plot of the film, but Hemsworth and Anya Taylor-Joy will lead the cast, and it is expected to be released in 2024.
Untitled Hulk Hogan Biopic
Sony Pictures Studios
Netflix is producing a Hulk Hogan biopic, which will depict his rise through the wrestling ranks in the 80s, to eventually becoming the wrestling superstar that we all recognize today. Hemsworth will portray Hulk Hogan. The project has been kept secret and not much is known; however, writer John Pollono has praised Hemsworth, so we are looking forward to their collaboration. Hemsworth recently provided an update on the Hogan film during an interview with Comicbook.com, saying, “That film’s a while away. That’s sort of in the development stage you know, and if that comes to fruition, great. [Director] Todd Phillips is brilliant. Haven’t ripped any shirts off yet, but you’ll be the first to hear about it when I do.”
