We have an exclusive clip to premiere from the new action-adventure film Dakota ahead of its theatrical release. The film, which was picked up for U.S. distribution by Samuel Goldwyn Films from Iervolino & Lady Bacardi Entertainment, features Abbie Cornish (Three Billboard Outside Ebbing, Missouri) in a starring role. In our clip, Cornish can be seen in her role as a war widow who is surprised to inherit her late husband’s combat dog following his death in Afghanistan. You can watch the clip below.

Along with Cornish, Dakota stars Lola Sultan (Netflix’s Yes Day, Bernie the Dolphin franchise), William Baldwin (Backdraft, Sliver), Patrick Muldoon (The Comeback Trail, Starship Troopers) and Tim Rozon (Surreal Estate, Wynonna Earp). It was directed by Kirk Harris and written by Johnny Harrington (Dead Awake). ​​​​​​Andrea Iervolino, Monika Bacardi, Danielle Maloni, and Marty Poole produced. When Marine Clet Sanders tragically dies in Afghanistan, Sargent TJ Malcom fulfills a promise to bring Dakota, Clet’s best friend and combat dog, home to his family’s farm. Clet’s wife Kate (Abbie Cornish) is struggling to maintain the small-town farm with her daughter (Sultan), while also running the local volunteer fire department, so TJoffers to stay and help out. Dakota quickly adjusts to life on the farm and becomes a local hero after rescuing a woman from a burning building. Meanwhile, the local Sheriff (Patrick Muldoon) knows that Kate’s land is valuable and has been leaning on her to sell the farm. He’ll stop at nothing to get his hands on the land, including setting fire to the farm. With the help of TJ, her daughter, and her new best friend, Dakota, Kate realizes the true value of the family farm and most importantly, friendship.

Yes Day’s Lola Sultan Co-Stars with Abbie Cornish in Dakota

Dakota also features Lola Sultan in a lead role as the daughter of the family who’s initially reluctant to accept Dakota as her new best friend, but it’s not long before she falls in love with the former combat dog. Sultan can be recognized for her role in the hit Netflix comedy Yes Day, which currently has a sequel in the works. She also starred in the Bernie the Dolphin films.

Abbie Cornish starred in Jack Ryan and has appeared in movies like RoboCop, Geostorm, Where Hands Touch, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. The actress will also be seen in a starring role in the upcoming thriller Detained alongside Moon Bloodgood and Laz Alonso. Fans can also see Cornish in the upcoming films Blackout (with Nick Nolte and Josh Duhamel) and Unto the Son (with Harvey Keitel and Tom Arnold).

Patrick Muldoon, who’s also featured in a starring role in Dakota, can be seen in past films like Starship Troopers, Stigmata, and The Comeback Trail. The actor also appeared alongside Sultan in the Bernie the Dolphin movies. He will also join Liam Neeson and Daniela Melchior in Neil Jordan’s thriller Marlowe.

Dakota will be released in limited theaters by Samuel Goldwyn Films on April 1, 2022, followed by a platformed theatrical rollout.
