From Port Isaac, the Fisherman’s Friends have been performing since the 1990s, though it was in 2010 when they landed a record deal with Universal Music. They famously performed at the Glastonbury Festival on the Pyramid Stage, which comes into play in Fisherman’s Friends: One and All. In addition to the feature films, the group has also inspired multiple documentaries about their story as well as a stage musical, dubbed Fisherman’s Friends: The Musical, which held its premiere in Truro in 2021.

On pursuing movies about the group, co-director Nick Moorcroft told Cineworld, “When we first came across the story that informed the first film, it revealed itself as a really compelling fish out of water story - pardon the pun! However, it was also a fantastic tale of the little person against the big person in which 10 ordinary fishermen get signed by Universal Records and make a million-pound record deal. There was evidently a film in there.”

Moorcroft also explained how there was just too much about the Fisherman Friends’ story to include in one movie. The decision was made to end the first film when the group got a top 10 hit, but the hope was always there to tell the next chapter with a follow-up film.

“We always knew in the back of our minds that if film number one could work, the second part of the story was as compelling a pitch as the first story,” Moorcroft said. “This time, ten ordinary fishermen have become famous and end up playing the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury.”

Fisherman’s Friends: One and All will be released on Nov. 18, 2022. You can get another sneak peek by watching the full trailer below.
