MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

“When bounty hunter Ian Swan is shot and presumed dead after disappearing in Maui waters, Swan’s son, Ryan, his ex-partner, and a local detective set out to find his killers. After being threatened by a ruthless power broker, it appears Ryan and his team are out of options — until an excursion to the closely guarded island community of Paradise City unites them with an unforeseen ally.”

Paradise City Reunites John Travolta and Bruce Willis One Last Time

The film pits John Travolta against Bruce Willis, and it’s not the first time these two have tangoed. They both had notable roles in Quentin Tarantino’s hit film Pulp Fiction, culminating in a scene wherein their characters briefly interact when one brutally murders the other. Willis also did voiceover work for the Look Who’s Talking movies that starred Travolta. Perhaps they’ll get a bit more time to speak on-screen when they meet this time around with the actors reunite in Paradise City.

This also marks the final movie role for Willis, whose retirement was announced shortly after filming. Willis has been diagnosed with aphasia, a neurological condition affecting his speech. He has stepped away to focus on more quality time with his acting, though at the time, the cast and crew hadn’t known that Paradise City would end up beomcing Willis’ final film.

“He was excited to work with John Travolta, and you could see the old Bruce Willis charm was still there,” Russell said of the experience, via the L.A. Times. “He really brought his A game, and we made sure that he and John had a great experience filming together.”

After Willis’ retirement was announced, Travolta took to social media to pay tribute to his co-star and longtime friend. He posted some images from their past while acknowledging how king Willis had always been to him.

“Bruce and I became good friends when we shared 2 of our biggest hits together, Pulp Fiction and Look Who’s Talking,” Travolta said on Instagram. “Years later he said to me, ‘John, I just want you to know that when something good happens to you, I feel like it’s happening to me.’ That’s how generous a soul he is. I love you Bruce.”
