There will be another James Bond sooner or later, as it’s inevitable that Bond 26 will happen at some point, given the continued popularity of the character. Until an official announcement is made, fans will also be continuing to campaign for their personal favorite pick to get the part. For years, Henry Cavill has been frequently suggested by fans as the perfect choice to play the next 007 following Daniel Craig’s exit. With Craig now out, the campaign for Cavill’s casting has heated back up.

While time will tell if Cavill gets the job, we have new artwork to debut featuring what the former Witcher star might look like as 007. The image features Cavill’s James Bond suited up in front of a plane, easy enough to imagine that this is a shot from Bond 26. You can view the full-size image below.

For what it’s worth, Cavill had made it clear that he’s happy to speak with the Bond team about taking on the role, putting the ball in their court if they want to pursue that possibility. The actor has often responded to the fan demand for him to get the part, last month referring to it as “flattering” to see. But he also notes that he’d have to have the time to be able to fully commit to Bond, as Cavill’s schedule was getting pretty filled up with his planned return as Superman.

“It is enormously flattering to read those articles that pop up about Bond all the time and who’s the favorite,” Cavill told USA Today in early November. “I enjoy that, of course. But it’s all about how much time I have, and these roles need to be respected and a lot of work needs to be put into them. You can’t just be jumping from iconic role to iconic role with no time to prep for them.”

Soon after making these comments, however, it was announced that Cavill’s return as Superman was no longer happening. That certainly frees the in-demand actor’s schedule back up quite a bit, though he’s already signed on to produce and star in a Warhammer 40K series that could end up taking up a lot of his time as well.

If Not Henry Cavill, Then Who?

Cavill may or may not end up playing Bond. It’s all speculation for now, and he’s certainly not the only person whose name has come up as a possibility. Other names mentioned in the rumor mill in recent months include Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Dan Stevens, and Charlie Cox. Aaron Taylor-Johnson has also emerged as another candidate for the part. For his part, the most recent Bond says he pays no attention to the rumors but will be happy to see the new movie when it’s eventually released.

“I don’t really pay any attention,” Craig said when asked about the Taylor-Johnson rumors on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “I just, there’s a lot of noise. I mean, I don’t go on the internet. I don’t have a social media account or whatever it is.”

When asked if he’d be there to watch Bond 26 regardless, Craig responded, “Yes, of course. I’ll be front and center.”
