Netflix has started to reveal its Christmas lineup, and fans of holiday movies are in for a treat. One of their new Christmas movies features the return of an iconic actress, skiing-induced amnesia, and perfectly-timed mistletoe. Falling for Christmas is the next in a line of popular films that include The Princess Switch trilogy, The Christmas Prince trilogy, and one-offs like Operation Christmas Drop and Love Hard.
The movie was first announced by Netflix on Twitter, with Variety exclusively confirming the details on the same day in 2021. Janeen Damian (Much Ado About Christmas, The Christmas Waltz) directed the film and wrote it alongside Michael Damian (A Princess for Christmas), Jeff Bonnett (Love by the Book), and Ron Oliver (The Housewives of the North Pole).

Falling for Christmas: The Plot
Netflix
Sierra Belmont (Lindsay Lohan) has a life many people dream of. She’s the daughter of a hotel mogul and has never had to want for anything. Though, she wants people to know her by more than her name, accordingly to the trailer’s voiceover. Maybe the character was inspired by a famous woman with the name of a French city with a large social media following.
Sierra is having the Christmas of her life. Her boyfriend Tad (George Young) takes her skiing and proposes at the top of the mountain. Isn’t that romantic? Their happiness is short-lived, though, as she backslides off the mountain, falling down into the unknown. Thankfully, someone in a sleigh finds her and takes her to a hospital.
She has no identification on her, and the fall has caused amnesia. While she seems to remember some things about life in general, like that hotels typically have room service, she can’t remember who she is or how she ended up at the bottom of the mountain. Jake (Chord Overstreet), a local lodge owner, takes her in while she recovers.
She helps out at the lodge, even learning how to make a bed, while she waits for her memory to come back or for her loved ones to find her, whichever comes first. But her family doesn’t find her right away. A scene in the trailer shows her father demanding people find his daughter, but it seems to take some time before she’s reunited with Tad. In that time, it looks like she and Jake connect, and Sierra is forced to make a decision about what kind of life she’d like to lead: living in the small town or going back to the lavish life she’s used to.
