In a new concept art by BossLogic, Cillian Murphy has donned the iconic green cloak of Victor Von Doom, aka Doctor Doom. The concept art features Murphy with a disfigured face while holding his Doctor Doom mask in his hand. BossLogic further captioned the picture, “I’ll forever pitch Cillian Murphy,” and promised to upload a ‘Mask On’ version of the concept art.

Victor Von Doom is the primary villain of the Marvel Comics superhero team, Fantastic Four. The character is the brainchild of two finest comic book creators, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. He made his debut in The Fantastic Four #5 in July 1962 and has faced off against several Marvel superheroes besides the titular team, such as Iron Man, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and Avengers.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

Victor Von Doom is likely to be the antagonist in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie from Marvel Studios, set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Intended to release in November 2024, as part of MCU Phase Six, the film is currently under pre-production, and the casting process is actively on. There is also a slight possibility that Marvel will announce the film’s lead cast at this year’s D23 Expo. The character may also play the antagonist in Avengers: Secret Wars as it is in the comics.

Cillian Murphy is doubtful to play the villain. But if that happens to be the case, he could fit the cast alongside John Krasinski’s Reed Richards, who played the character in Multiverse of Madness. The two actors would be of the correct age per Marvel’s plans not to make the Fantastic Four an origin story of these characters.

Murphy is famous for playing Tommy Shelby in Peaky Blinders and for his roles in films like The Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception, Transcendence, and A Quiet Place II. He is currently awaiting the release of his next Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan’s epic war drama scheduled to release in 2023.

Fantastic Four Is Gearing Up For MCU Debut

     Marvel Studios

During Disney’s Investors Day Event, Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four was first announced in December 2020. The film then faced a production halt after director Jon Watts stepped down from his duties. But, Marvel Studios has now fast-tracked production on the film and has cleverly shifted the film to Phase Six in the MCU timeline. Recently, WandaVision director Matt Shakman has been under talks to take on the directorial duties for Fantastic Four.

The team has been mentioned in Multiverse of Madness, with John Krasinski essaying the role of Mister Fantastic. But, with You actor Penn Badgley reportedly under talks to take on the role, it’s possible that Krasinski’s role was probably a variant of the character from Earth-838. Interestingly, his character is killed off in moments at the hands of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff.

As for Marvel Studios’ plans to skip out on the team’s origins, having Krasinski in the role would be a great idea, and Cillian Murphy would look great as a villain opposite him. Murphy has earlier played DC Comics villain Dr. Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow, which piques fans’ interest in taking up the mantle of another comic book villain. D23 is just around the corner, and hopefully, curtains will lift off from Fantastic Four cast announcements.
