Fast and Furious star Tyrese Gibson has welcomed Jason Momoa to the family. Momoa, who is best known for his roles in HBO’s Game of Thrones and as the underwater superhero Aquaman in the DC Cinematic Universe, was confirmed to be joining the hugely successful action movie franchise as the villain of the upcoming sequel Fast & Furious 10.

Taking to Instagram, Gibson, who has appeared as comic-relief character Roman Pearce in the Fast and Furious franchise since 2003’s 2 Fast 2 Furious, sounds just as excited as audiences are to see Jason Momoa add his sheer levels of testosterone to the already stacked cast. “Yeaaaahhhhhh we outta here!!!!!” Gibson said. “Welcome to the #FASTFAMILY!!!!! @prideofgypsies Pluto here we come!!!!!!”

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
After some back and forth over whether Jason Momoa was indeed joining the supporting cast of Fast & Furious 10, the news has now been confirmed by the action sequel’s official Instagram account. Sharing an image of Momoa alongside the caption “The Fast Fam keeps getting bigger. Welcome, Jason Momoa,” the announcement has been met with overwhelming positivity from fans of the franchise. Though details of Momoa’s role in Fast & Furious 10 have yet to be revealed, it is expected that he will face off against Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto as one of the movie’s villains.
The Fast & Furious Saga Will End with Two Movies
Universal Pictures
Director Justin Lin has teased the end of the Fast and Furious saga, revealing that things will wrap up across two movies, both Fast and Furious 10 and Fast and Furious 11. “The idea of the last chapter being two films is correct,” the filmmaker said in September last year. “I have to say, I’m so glad - because I think when I first entered this franchise, a sequel was not a given. You had to earn it, you know? And so to be sitting here talking to you and go, ‘Oh yeah, there’s gonna be two more movies!’ I’m like, ‘Wow.’ It means a lot. So, every day when I wake up, I’m trying to reconfigure and make sure hopefully whatever we’re talking about process wise is gonna yield the best result. But I think having one chapter in two movies is correct. That’s where I sit today.”
It is not yet known what these final two outings will involve, but no doubt there will be a lot of car chases, explosions, and Vin Diesel saying the word “family” over and over again until our ears start to bleed. One thing we do know that Fast and Furious will not involve is the return of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Agent Luke Hobbs. Despite Diesel reaching out to The Rock on social media, there remains some real-life bad blood between the pair, with the latter having left the franchise behind for good. No doubt that Momoa’s involvement will help to make up for the lack of The Rock.
Universal Pictures recently delayed Fast and Furious 10 from a release date of April 7, 2023, to May 19, 2023. Jason Momoa, meanwhile will next be seen in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which is due for release on December 16, 2022.
