The latest set video from the filming of Fast X has Vin Diesel and Jason Momoa showing off their muscle cars. Released by Diesel via Instagram, the footage is paired with the caption, “Week 5, day one of an intense new action sequence!! @prideofgypsies Blessed and grateful. #FastX.” The behind-the-scenes drama surrounding Fast X has been more dramatic than even the white-knuckle car chases that littler the franchise, but at least it looks like Jason Momoa is having a good time.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom star Jason Momoa joined the Fast and Furious family back in January, with the DC superhero set to play the villain of the piece. “It’s fun, I get to play the bad guy, which I haven’t gotten to do for a while,” Momoa has said since. “Now, I get to be the bad boy. A very flamboyant bad boy. A little panache!”

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

Some of that so-called flamboyance is demonstrated in the video shared by Vin Diesel, with Momoa showing off his bright purple muscle car, which he will no doubt use once again to put Dominic Toretto and the rest of the crew through their paces.

The plot of Fast X currently remains unknown, but it is expected to the first of the final two movies in the long-running, hugely successful franchise. Fast X will once again feature a large ensemble cast, including Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Michael Rooker, Charlize Theron, Jason Momoa, Daniela Melchior, and Brie Larson. If that were not already enough, Reacher star Alan Ritchson has also now been added to the roster.

Fast X Has Faced Some Serious Drama Behind the Scenes

We are still waiting to hear what the story of Fast X will involve - likely the family once again saving the world like a band of secret agents. Incredible that they began stealing DVD players - the movie has suffered all manner of drama backstage. The spectacle started when director Justin Lin, who was signed on to direct both Fast X and Fast and Furious 11, walked away from the project after less than a month of filming. Citing “creative differences” it has since emerged that Lin may have left the world of Fast and Furious behind thanks to the behavior of Vin Diesel.

Reports quickly began to surface, with Richard Johnson of the New York Daily News describing Diesel as “difficult” before adding, “I’ve never seen anything like it. Lin’s giving up $10 or $20 million. Diesel shows up late to the set. He doesn’t know his lines. And he shows up out of shape.”

Since then, further reports have claimed there was a “major disagreement” between Justin Lin and Vin Diesel. Attending a four-person meeting, Diesel reportedly arrived with notes, something Justin Lin was understandably unhappy with, considering he believed the script to be finished. The meeting reportedly ended with “a slammed door,” with sources saying that “Justin finally had enough and said, ‘This movie is not worth my mental health.’”

Fast X is now back on track, with The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier stepping in to helm the sequel. Fast X is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 19, 2023, by Universal Pictures.
