Bad news has come in for fans of Fate: The Winx Saga. Netflix has officially pulled the plug on the series following the second season’s arrival in September. There won’t be a third season coming to close out the series, meaning the season 2 finale will also serve as the show’s series finale. The “heartbreaking” news comes from series showrunner Brian Young, who expressed his feelings on the situation with a post on Instagram.
“Hi all! So this is not fun news to share, but Netflix have decided not to move forward with Season Three of Fate: The Winx Saga,” Young writes. “This is especially tough because I know how many of you loved this season. It’s a heartbreaking silver lining, but a silver lining all the same.”

He added, “I’m so proud of everyone who worked on the show, and so happy we got to tell the stories we did. Our cast and crew put in a ton of hard work creating this world and these characters. I’m grateful for each and every one of them, and for all of you for watching. It’s been an amazing four years. Hopefully we’ll see each other again in the future. So much love.”
Young also served as an executive producer of the series alongside Archery Pictures’ Judy Counihan and Kris Thykier, as well as Rainbow’s Joanne Lee and Cristiana BUzzelli.
Fate: The Winx Saga Ends After Two Seasons
Netflix
Fate: The Winx Saga is a live-action adaptation of the Nickelodeon animated series Winx Club. It stars Abigail Cowen, Hannah van der Westhuysen, Precious Mustapha, Eliot Salt, and Elisha Applebaum. The series depicts the war between ancient creatures known as the Burned Ones against young fairies with special powers. It drew high viewership with its first season, peaking at No. 2 on Nielsen’s streaming charts, but it seems that not as many fans tuned back in for season 2.
And that’s another one down for Netflix, a streaming platform that has become infamous for canceling shows after one or two seasons. In recent months, other shows have been given the similar treatment. Since June, the shows The Midnight Gospel, First Kill, Resident Evil, and Q-Force were all axed after a single season. Other shows to be tossed at Netflix this year after two-season runs include Space Force, Raising Dion, Another Life, and The Baby-Sitters Club. It’s never exactly surprising anymore when it happens to new shows at Netflix, but it’s nonetheless disappointing for the fans who’ve invested in these shows who feel there’s still so much potential.
