Monsterverse is Expanding Further
Legendary Pictures
Legendary’s Monsterverse is heading forward from Godzilla vs. Kong after the success of the franchise’s fourth film. Despite being released at the pandemic’s peak, that too, under a day-and-date release strategy, made $470 Million at the box office. At the time, it was the final planned film of the franchise, but Adam Wingard is now returning to the franchise with a follow-up. While the Apple TV+ series will tell a story set after the first film, the fourth film will be a direct sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong, officially expanding the franchise. The film will release in 2024 and will star Dan Stevens (Legion, Beauty and the Beast).
Furthermore, the franchise will expand through an anime-styled series called Skull Island. It will be an adventurous tale of characters shipwrecked ashore island. The series will feature these characters trying to escape the island. The project is written by writer-director Brian Duffield, famous for Godzilla vs. Kong helming films like The Babysitter and Spontaneous. The show will directly head for streaming, exclusively on Netflix.
The Monsterverse franchise has gained massive popularity and has several stories that could be explored further in several forms. While the two series and the fourth film are awaited, let’s hope we see more of the Titans.
