While there are some actors who still turn up their noses at the idea of appearing in a Marvel movie, the vast majority are eagerly awaiting the call to arms that would see them join the MCU’s elite and it seems that Fifty Shades of Grey star Jamie Dornan is one of them. It also appears that his aspirations of becoming a superhero have already begun to take a step in the right direction as he has already spoken to Marvel boss Kevin Feige about fulfilling his ambition.

During a lengthy interview with The New York Times, Dornan discussed his future hopes and compared it to the transformation his friend Robert Pattinson has had between his teen idol Twilight days and his upcoming role as Batman.

Continuing to discuss how after becoming a heartthrob to female fans thanks to his role as Christian Grey, Dornan said he could see a superhero role helping expand his fan base to a new audience in a way he hasn’t been able to achieve so far.

Dornan recently spoke about his Fifty Shades of Grey role and how looks back on it and how it was a tough decision whether to take on the part in the often ridiculed erotic phenomenon. He explained, “There has to be an acceptance with acting, taking jobs, that you don’t ultimately have control over some things. But you do know what you are getting into and I did spend a lot of time weighing up whether to take the Fifty Shades role."

He added, “Sometimes you can be pleasantly surprised; sometimes you can be bitterly disappointed. Take that project [and] you know that loads of people are going to hate it – hate it – before they have even seen it. Why? Because, guess what? The majority of people hated the books. And I’m not saying I don’t recognize why those books were so powerful for millions of people, but you aren’t going to have books that were horrifically critiqued turned into movies that will be critically acclaimed. You are dealing with the same material. That’s the raw material we had.”

In the long term it doesn’t seem to have done too much damage to Jamie Dornan’s future prospects, and if with Marvel’s Cinematic Universe always needing new stars, there is very little to suggest that he will not get his superhero wish sometime in the future.
