Ever since Marvel Studios brought the Defenders Saga under their banner, many of the stars of the former Netflix shows have expressed their desire to continue their roles in the MCU. While we have already seen the return of Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Finn Jones, who played Danny Rand in Iron Fist, has said he would love to be part of the ongoing Marvel saga, and would take part in a Heroes for Hire show on Disney+.
Iron Fist was one of the less well received shows that formed part of Netflix’s roster of Marvel shows, and was mostly overshadowed by the likes of Daredevil, Jessica Jones and The Punisher. However, with the characters from Netflix all under the control of Marvel Studios and seemingly starting to make their way into the MCU’s story, Finn Jones has revealed that he would be thrilled if he could play Danny Rand again. While speaking with ComicBook.com, Jones expressed a desire to follow his Defenders co-star Cox into the biggest show on Earth. He said:

“I would love to continue playing that character. I think there’s a lot of room for growth. Personally, where I would like to see the reintroduction of the character would be something like a Heroes for Hire TV series. I think that would be the most dynamic and fun way to reintroduce those characters. I loved working with Mike and I loved the on-screen chemistry between Danny and Luke. I think it’s a really interesting creative place that show can be taken in. I’d love to pick up that mantle again and keep moving this character forward and make the best possible Iron Fist there could be.”
Iron Fist Was Not Well Received and Lacked The Drive Its Fellow Marvel Television Shows.
While Jones seems to suggest that Danny Rand is a character that works best as part of an ensemble, this is something that the original two seasons of Iron Fist would corroborate, as they are among the worst rated of the former Netflix shows. The initial season of Iron Fist holds a 20% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and the overall opinion is that the series just seemed to lack the same momentum as the other series around it. While this rating increased to 55% for the second season, with the pacing and action scenes being vastly improved, there was still a lot that could be improved.
Of course, before anything like that could happen, Marvel Studios took back the characters from Netflix and Iron Fist, with all other Netflix shows, were cancelled. Now that the characters have seemingly started to bleed across into the MCU’s narrative, it could be possible that we will see Iron Fist returning in the future, but whether that will ever include a solo series again is doubtful. Having said that, there are a number of new hero groups being formed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and having been part of the likes of Thunderbolts, New Avengers and Heroes For Hire, a collaborative effort could well be something for future consideration.
