After gearing up for the Batgirl movie and spending a substantial amount of money on set and production costs, a failed attempt to please the audience caused fans to be blown away by the news that even though Batgirl will be canceled, The Flash is still set to be released. The decision to shelf the Batgirl film came as a shock to some DC fans, while others thought they made the right decision but just a little too late. With the DCEU being a large mass of movies and shows based on the superhero concept, it is hard to understand what went wrong.

With some fans unaware of the inner workings and what takes place behind the scenes in production, they have taken sides, voiced their concerns, and fought on what they believe should have been the right course of action. Needless to say, DC fans truly want the best films to come out of the DCEU and hold Warner Bros. accountable, and rightfully so. Fans have come to the conclusion that Warner Bors. felt that it was in their best interest to pull out of the film’s production before receiving any negative backlash, and The Flash film would be their saving grace. But thanks to The Flash actor Ezra Miller, things have taken a turn for the worst.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

With Batgirl set to have been released this month, DC and Brendan Fraser fans are fuming after news spread of the “nearly complete” film being shelved. With the excuse that Batgirl received a poor screen test with low streaming ratings to add, fans took to various social media platforms to voice their concerns as well as ask the one question on everyone’s mind – what is going on with Warner Bros.?

The Loss of Batgirl’s LGBTQ+ Character

As it was meant to be released alongside The Flash, fans have come to the conclusion that as much as it is for entertainment purposes, it is also a part of the winning game. With the $200 million spent on The Flash versus a figure of $90 million with tax write-offs, Batgirl’s sudden demise has gained some fans to show more support, intrigue, and interest in the Batgirl film.

Before news broke of Millers’ run-in with the law for the third time, fans had speculated a plethora of reasons for the film being shelved. From having a woman of color as the lead actress not being marketable for DC to the film being “bad” due to the roles cast for it – at the end of the day, the loss of the film has led to the loss of a rare LGBTQ+ character set to be played by actress Ivory Aquino as Alysia. Even though Warner Bros. released a statement clarifying the Batgirl cancellation, fans still feel sympathetic to those that played their part in the creation of the movie, and more so Leslie Grace, who played the lead role of Batgirl.

Producer Dempsey Pillot tweeted:

As social feeds buzzed with new information on the star, Deadline reported that Miller had been arrested yet again. Stating that in accordance with a police report dating back to May 1, 2022, Miller has been charged with probable cause on the accounts of felony burglary into an unoccupied dwelling. As fans were busy on Twitter shaming Warner Bros. and standing up for Batgirl’s cast and crew, it came as less of a surprise to see the news of Miller’s arrest but more of a surprise that neither Warner Bros. nor DC has issued a statement.

After Miller’s fiasco of finding it incredibly hard to stay away from trouble, fans have wondered if Warner Bros. is set to let the actor go, while Batgirl fans have been up in arms calling the Miller debacle “karma” in hopes of the film finding it’s way on to screens.

Will Warner Bors. Respond to an Ultimatum?

As much as the steps set by Miller may cause Warner Bros. to make some tough decisions, fans are looking to side with the Batgirl movie in hopes that the studio releases it. As for The Flash fans that have been waiting on the edge of their seats for the release, they have remained silent on Miller’s arrest in hopes that the film can speak for itself.

With everything that has happened thus far, it seems that fans are still set to watch The Flash, but the anticipation around the film’s production is not as grand as it was before.

As much as things have calmed down over the past few days online, the social media reactions have not ceased to come to an end, especially with podcasts adding to the mix. Fans have even gone to the lengths of giving Warner Bros. an ultimatum by stating that they can save face by either bringing back Batgirl and shelving The Flash or replacing Miller’s leading role. Talks of the replacement have sparked major interest with fans as they have opted for Elliot Page (The Umbrella Academy) as a way of pleasing the LGBTQ+ community. Fans also want to see more of The CW’s The Flash star Grant Gustin, who posted an emotional video when the series came to an end.

Fans will just have to wait and see how both DC and Warner Bros. decide to move forward, starting with a statement.
