Nathalie Emmanuel received a breakout role in 2013 when the actress began playing Missandei in HBO’s mega-hit Game of Thrones. She stayed with the series for five seasons, traveling with Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) on her path to the Iron Throne. As the show reached astronomical levels of fame and success, Emmanuel’s career did the same.

Emmanuel went on to appear in Furious 7, The Fate of the Furious, Maze Runner, and Army of Thieves. She continues to become a household name in Hollywood, something she attributes to her time on Game of Thrones. Now, as House of the Dragon begins its first season on HBO and HBO Max, the actress offers advice to the cast. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Emmanuel says, “If you’re not used to that level of attention or recognition, it’s definitely something.”

When asked about catching the House of the Dragon premiere episode, Emmanuel says she was excited to see the show from a fan’s perspective. “Yeah, I did! I actually watched [House of the Dragon] last night because I was busy on Sunday.” She says, “I’m just so happy to see that world back. I now get to watch it as a fan, so that’s really exciting and cool.” Fans can catch House of the Dragon, premiering on HBO and HBO Max every Sunday at 9 pm E.T.

“I’m sure they already know, but this fanbase, whew … They are passionate and they are amazing. And who knows how this series will be received, but I hope it’s a huge success. And if it is, it’s an experience, and it will be an adjustment, for sure. If you’re not used to that level of attention or recognition, it’s definitely something. So I guess my advice would be to just enjoy it and look to each other. It was really important that we, as a group, went through all of that together and held each other down.”
