Actor Kelsey Grammer has shared a promising update regarding his planned revival of the beloved sitcom Frasier, stating that the series could begin filming later this year. During a recent appearance on The Talk, Grammer assured fans of the blustery psychiatrist that the Frasier revival is still moving ahead and that the latest look into the life of Frasier Crane is gearing up to go before cameras soon.
As well as providing an update on production, Grammer also offered an insight into the script for the Frasier revival. Revealing that they are now “in the final stages of the final script for the first episode of the Frasier reboot and it looks pretty good,” the actor went on to express his feelings towards the script. Not only is the reboot so close to landing on screens that Grammer has had run thoughts, but the whole experience has left him feeling quite overwhelmed.
“Shooting? There were some conversations about October, maybe a little later. I don’t know. There are a couple of other things coming up. We’ve developed a couple of other projects that look like they’re going to shoot first.”

Grammer has played the role of Frasier Crane for two decades, so it’s no surprise that bringing him back once again has left him feeling emotional. Clearly, playing the character is something that he loves doing, with Grammer explaining what he believes is the key ingredient to Frasier’s unending appeal, and why he thinks the revival will work.
“I’ve had a couple of runs through it, and I cried, so you know, I’m happy.”
Grammer, of course, said this with the kind of wry smile that would make Frasier proud.
“The key ingredient for the Frasier reboot is actually Frasier, honestly. It was always called [Frasier], so it’s me, the key is me.”
The Frasier Revival Will Debut on Paramount+
CBS Television Distribution
Spawned off the back of NBC’s hugely popular sitcom, Cheers, Frasier continues the story of psychiatrist Frasier Crane as he returns to his hometown of Seattle and starts building a new life as a radio show host. All while living with his cranky, ex-cop father, Martin (John Mahoney). Frasier came to an end with season 11 back in 2004, with the character leaving for Chicago in hopes of reuniting with Charlotte, the woman he has fallen in love with. During its run, Frasier was critically acclaimed, with the show itself and the cast winning thirty-seven Primetime Emmy Awards and winning the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series for five consecutive years.
ViacomCBS officially gave the green light to the Frasier reboot in February last year. Though not much has been revealed about where exactly the reboot with find Frasier, Kelsey Grammer has since stated that the psychiatrist will find some luck in the finance department. “He thinks he’s gonna go off and do one thing, and sure enough, his life takes him in another direction,” Grammer said. “And he ends up rich beyond his dreams.”
Grammer has also revealed that the revival will tackle the passing of Frasier star John Mahoney, who passed away in 2018. “We intend to deal with that some in the first episode,” Grammer explained.
The Frasier revival does not yet have a release date.
