1923 Set To Explore the Dutton Family History

     Paramount+

1923 is the gripping new chapter of the acclaimed Dutton family saga. This prequel transports audiences to 1923 and puts them in the midst of a pivotal era in history as Jacob (Ford) and Cara (Mirren) Dutton lead their family through moments of hardship and uncertainty. From Western Expansion to devastating droughts, the prequel follows an entire generation of Duttons during one of the most tumultuous times in American history. Historical events like Prohibition and the Great Depression add a level of gravity to the series.

In the latest trailer for the upcoming prequel series 1923, Harrison Ford can be heard delivering a menacing line as Jacob Dutton, the head of the Yellowstone ranch: “You attack my family, it’s gonna be the last thing you ever do,” In a recent interview, he went on to describe the series’ historical context and the nature of his character:

Yellowstone is one of the most popular shows on television, and its prequel is sure to be just as popular. 1923 is set to air on Paramount+ on Dec.18.

“He’s a rancher, and a rancher is financially responsible as well as everything else for the outcomes. The pressures on Jacob Dutton at this point are considerable. The economic pressures. Banks are not loaning to cattle ranchers, having suffered losses. The business has not become as efficient as it needs to be just to generate consistent profits. The railhead is not close enough, so cattle still have to be driven. They lose weight, and they suffer casualties on the way to the market.”
