Just weeks after the Season 4 finale of TNT’s Franklin & Bash, the network has canceled the comedy series starring Breckin Meyer and Mark-Paul Gosselaar. This is the first major programming decision since Kevin Reilly was hired to oversee both TNT and TBS last week. Will Smith is heading back home to Bel-Air, as the former star of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air hosted a cast reunion for his online Snapchat series. This will be the first time the cast has reunited on-screen, even via webcam, since the hit comedy series ended its run on television in 1996. Cinemark Holdings, Inc. and RealD 3D announced today that Cinemark will add up to 1,500 RealD 3D screens to its circuit, bringing RealD’s committed 3D platform to a game-changing 5,000 worldwide screens. Cinemark’s global deployment of its greatly expanded 3D platform, with RealD as exclusive digital 3D provider, comes as an unprecedented slate of top-tier 3D films is announced for 2009 and 2010. The parties expect to commence the roll-out upon completion of the Digital Cinema Implementation Partners (DCIP) initiative....

Earlier this month, it was rumored that Guardians of the Galaxy was going to be announced as the mystery movie taking up the August 14th slot on the Marvel Studios release calendar. Recently, we brought you the rumor that True Blood actor Joe Manganiello is up for the role of Clark Kent in Zack Snyder’s Superman. Supposedly, Smallville’s Tom Welling and Superman Returns’ Brandon Routh are still being considered as well, although their casting would contradict most of Snyder’s previous statements about his film being a complete reboot of the franchise. One actor who has played a super hero for Snyder before is Patrick Wilson, who portrayed Nite Owl in the director’s comic book adapted masterpiece Watchmen....

The Good A great movie is given the Blu-ray touch. The Bad I honestly didn’t notice too much difference between this Blu-ray disc and its Standard DVD counterpart. Day of the Dead picks up where Dawn of the Dead left off only this time it is really apparent just how outnumbered the human beings are. Taking up residence in an underground facility, a group of scientists constantly butt heads with a renegade group of soldiers....

Regardless of an individual’s streaming preference, Hulu and Netflix have been at each other’s throats for nearly two decades. In recent years, studios like Disney, HBO, and Paramount have jumped onto the streaming bandwagon. Yet each streaming platform seems to escape the criticism Netflix receives. Indeed, over the past decade, Netflix has regularly increased its prices while offering less accessibility to multiple users. They have also premiered new series only to cancel them after one season, sometimes two (if they’re “lucky”), claiming viewership numbers were lower than expected....

Doom Patrol has been renewed for season 3 by HBO Max. The news comes from this afternoon’s DC FanDome: Explore the Multiverse event, part two of their original FanDome event from August. An official statement reads: “DC’s strangest group of heroes will be back to save the world again as HBO Max exclusively greenlights Max Original Doom Patrol for Season 3.” There was no mention of DC Universe during the panel as the original home of the fan-favorite series....

Dreamworks and DiBonaventura Pictures will be treasure hunting for their next project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio and production company have hired writer Dario Scardapane to write the film, Ancient History. Lorenzo DiBonaventura will produce. The story, originally based on an idea from DiBonaventura Pictures executive Mark Vahradian, will revolve around a man who purposefully gets himself locked up in prison so he can search for lost treasure. It is said that Scardapane will rework the setting and update the script which previously languished in development....

You can bring home Danny McBride and his new TV series on DVD this June. TV Shows on DVD has learned that Eastbound & Down: The Complete Season 1 will be released on June 30. No pricing details, cover art or special features details have been released as of yet, but it was said this will be released in a two-disc set that features all six of the first-season episodes. We’ll be sure to keep you posted with any further details on this new set as soon as we have more information....

Tim Burton’s comedy horror series Wednesday has received plenty of praise from viewers and critics alike.
