DreamWorks Animation SKG and Aardman Animations, Ltd. today announced that they will no longer continue their exclusive partnership in creating animated films. Together the two companies have collaborated on three feature films: Chicken Run (2000), Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005), and Flushed Away (2006). “I have had the pleasure and privilege of working with Peter Lord, David Sproxton, Nick Park and the Aardman team for almost ten years and highly respect their storytelling and filmmaking talents,” said Jeffrey Katzenberg, chief executive officer of DreamWorks Animation....

Another classic TV series will be getting remade, but with a reality twist. According to Variety, the classic 1978 series Fantasy Island is being remade as a reality show. Reality guru Mark Burnett will produce the series for Sony Pictures Television and the show will see 12 contestants vying to be their own Mr. or Mrs. Roarke, as originally portrayed by Ricardo Montalban. The contestants will greet guests in a resort setting and will be judged by their abilities to make the guests “dreams come true,” much like Montalban’s Roarke did in the fictional TV series....

Christopher Nolan hopes to ignite a fervor amongst fanboys with his seven minute long prologue to The Dark Knight Rises, which will be attached to IMAX prints of Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol when it gets it’s early IMAX theatrical release on December 16th. Speaking before an advanced screening of this Bane-centric short in Hollywood tonight, the director introduced the clip by expressing his love for the IMAX format. After a horrific car accident, Anna (Christina Ricci) wakes up to find the local funeral director Eliot Deacon (Liam Neeson) preparing her body for her funeral. Confused, terrified and feeling still very much alive, Anna doesn’t believe she’s dead, despite the funeral director’s reassurances that she is merely in transition to the afterlife....

IFC Films announced today that the company is acquiring U.S. rights to director Rob Minkoff’s (Forbidden Kingdom, The Lion King) robbery comedy Flypaper from Foresight Unlimited. Produced by Mark Damon, Patrick Dempsey, and Peter Safran, the film stars Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy), Ashley Judd (Crossing Over), Jeffrey Tambor (Win Win, Arrested Development), and Tim Blake Nelson (Leaves of Grass). Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, the writers behind The Hangover, penned the screenplay....

Fox Searchlight is in final negotiations to co-finance and distribute Darren Aronofsky’s supernatural thriller Black Swan, set in the world of New York ballet. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cross Creek Pictures would now co-finance the picture with Searchlight; Rick Schwartz’s Overnight Films had been co-financing, though Schwartz will remain involved with the project. As part of the new financing arrangement, Cross Creek topper Brian Oliver is set to come aboard as a producer....
