F. Gary Gray is set to direct Marvin, a biopic of Marvin Gaye, the iconic singer who was shot to death by his father in 1984. C. Gaby Mitchell (Blood Diamond) is onboard to write the script. According to Variety, producers David Foster and Duncan McGillivray will shop to studios and financiers a package that includes the complete music rights to Gaye’s catalog, including the hits that made him Motown’s biggest solo male star, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “Heard It Through the Grapevine,” “What’s Goin’ On” and “Let’s Get It On....

Fate: The Winx Saga has released its trailer for season 2 on Netflix. In some pretty ironic news, a Federal Communications Commission official has quit after investigators found pornography and lewd images on his FCC-issued work computer. The employee has not been identified, but it has been reported that he was a senior-level employee, which indicates that he was making upwards of $150,000 annually. And this isn’t the first time that this type of incident has taken place. Since 2015, at least 6 FCC officials have been fired for using their work computers to look up and download adult related videos of a sexual nature....

Fox has given a pilot order to the animated, outdoor-themed Brickleberry, from Athens, Ga.-based comedians Waco O’Guin and Roger Black. According to Variety, O’Guin and Black first broke into the biz as college students, when MTV picked up their sketch show Stankervision. Brickleberry revolves around a group of forest rangers at a declining park that’s about to be shut down. Enter a new ranger, voiced by Dave Herman, who’s brought in to shape the place up....

Netflix has released a new trailer for their upcoming docu-series about infamous serial killer Ted Bundy. The Good An interesting story of a man coming to terms with his past, present and future. The Bad A lot of the main actors in this film seem like they are acting how they think the kinds of people they are portraying act, rather than how they really are. Daltry Calhoun is one of those films that didn’t really work for me. I know that I was supposed to be taken with the story of a man, Daltry Calhoun, (miscast here as Johnny Knoxville), reconnecting with his daughter but I never bought Knoxville in this role....

Fangoria reports that Danielle Harris, who played Michael Myers’ niece in Halloween 4 & 5 is in talks to play the “leading role” in Rob Zombie’s Halloween. The site believes that Harris will be playing “none other than heroine Laurie Strode herself – or if not that character, played four times in the franchise by Jamie Lee Curtis, then certainly someone of prominence.” In Halloween 4 & 5, Harris played Jamie Lloyd, Michael Myers’ niece … and has not appeared in any of more-recent films....

Stranger Things star David Harbour will lead his own action franchise in Universal Pictures’ Violent Night, which stems from the mind of John Wick and Nobody director David Leitch and is now set for release in December 2022. The man behind the world of the hugely popular action franchise that is John Wick will be on producer duty, with Violent Night set to be directed by Tommy Wirkola, of horror comedy Dead Snow fame, working from a script written by Sonic the Hedgehog’s Pat Casey and Josh Miller....

The Office creator Ricky Gervais returns with the brand new series Derek, debuting in the U.S. exclusively on Netflix later this summer. The comedian stars as the title character Derek Noakes, a lovable outsider who works at a nursing home alongside Kev (David Earl), Dougie (Karl Pilkington), and Hannah (Kerry Godliman). Donald Trump’s surprising win in the U.S. Presidential election race was also a big win for broadcast and cable news networks alike. The Nielsen ratings system estimated that 71.4 million people watched primetime election coverage across ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, Telemundo, Univision, CNBC, CNN, Fox Business Network, Fox News Channel, MSNBC, TV One and Lifetime. Those numbers don’t include coverage after 11 PM ET, which is worth noting because the race wasn’t over until roughly 3 AM ET....
