Family Guy season 18 is looking like it’s going to ramp up the weirdness factor by a lot. Fox released the trailer today at San Diego Comic-Con. Series creator Seth MacFarlane and the rest of the cast were on hand at the annual event, promising that the long-talked about movie is still going to happen. MacFarlane says the big screen adaptation is on his “to do list” and that he already has a premise set up....

Writers Adam Jay Epstein and Andrew Jacobson (Not Another Teen Movie) make their directorial debuts on the independent film that focuses on Frankie Muniz as a teen who loses his virginity with his girlfriend, played by Ashley Schneider, only to find she wants to take things much further, including farm animals and midgets....
FX announced at the Television Critics Association summer press tour today that Louie has been renewed for Season 4, and that the late-night talk show Brand X with Russell Brand has been given a Season 2 order. Network president John Landgraf also announced that Martin Sheen has signed on as a new series regular on Anger Management, playing the on-screen father to his real-life son, Charlie Sheen. He will appear at the end of the show’s first season, and will become a series regular if the show receives its 90-episode pick-up after the 10-episode Season 1....
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra has earned more than $100 million worldwide, making it Paramount’s third triumphant action film of the summer, coming in behind Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Star Trek. This already has the studio eyeing future installments for the lucrative Hasbro property. According to The Los Angeles Times, Paramount’s vice chairman Rob Moore confirmed earlier today that a sequel is set to go into development soon....

When Matthew Vaughn decided to adapt this written work of art for the screen, he had the keen knowledge to hire both Moretz and Cage for this second banana outfit, and they have since gone on to become the break out stars of the film, overshadowing everyone else around them....
Christian Oliver (The Good German) has joined the cast of Warner Bros.’ Speed Racer, directed by the Wachowski brothers, according to Variety. The film stars Emile Hirsch and Matthew Fox. Bill Smitrovich (Iron Man) has been added to the cast of Flash of Genius for Universal and Spyglass Entertainment. Comic book and film fans alike are about to see a brand new reincarnation of the iconic character Frank Castle when Punisher: War Zone explodes into theaters on December 5, and, of course, they couldn’t pass the Comic-Con experience by. The film came to the Con this year with a panel featuring stars Ray Stevenson, who plays the new Frank Castle, Julie Benz, who portrays Angela Donatelli and producer Gale Anne Hurd....
With just a few days left until Stranger Things Season 2 debuts, Netflix has unveiled nine brief clips, and while they contain no audio from these scenes, they reveal quite a bit about this upcoming season. There are nine clips in total, which are taken from the Hawkins Lab surveillance feeds at several different locations around town. The first surveillance feed is from the Holland home, where we get our first look at Barb’s father, although it isn’t known who plays this character yet, and another glimpse at Barb’s mother (Cynthia Barrett), who was briefly introduced last season....
We first reported on Dambusters, a Peter Jackson produced remake of the 1955 World War II drama The Dam Busters, way back in 2006. And we haven’t heard much about the film since that time. Broadcast personality, actor, and comedian Stephen Fry wrote the screenplay for Dambusters, which tracks the true story of how a British squadron attacked three German dams essential to the Nazi steel industry during WWII. The long-gestating Gran Turismo movie is getting back on track with the addition of David Harbour (Stranger Things, Black Widow) to its cast. The Hollywood Reporter has uncovered that Harbour has boarded the cast of the Gran Turismo film that is currently in development with director Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium). Inspired by the video game of the same name, the project comes from Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions. Though based on Gran Turismo, the film is not so much a racing movie....
The Good A great movie gets yet another big release. The Bad I would have loved a commentary track with the actors that made the trek down the river. By all accounts it might be hard to wonder why when you mention the movie Deliverance people often give you a very stern look and then reply, “That’s a great movie.” So what is it about this tale of four men who take a trek down a dying river, are accosted by some backwoods people, then have to fight for their lives in order to survive, and then after surviving have to live with the fact that they committed murder (even if it was in the form of self defense) that attracts people?...
It looks like the only people happy in this format war is an “800-pound gorilla.” In a story from from The Hollywood Reporter, Bob Chapek, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment worldwide president and Blu-ray Disc proponent, recently “blasted the rival HD-DVD camp for prolonging the format war when it is clear that Blu-ray is the odds-on favorite.” These comments were made at “a two-day Blu-ray Festival in Hollywood.” “Blu-ray’s competition’s attempts to sell less than the best will inevitably be trumped by what we stated from the very beginning: That the Blu-ray technology is not a half-step format that will sell consumers short, but rather it is a revolutionary technology that will change the way we view movies for the long term,” Chapek stated....
Disney+ is developing a female-led Doogie Howser, M.D. reboot. How I Met Your Mother and Fresh Off the Boat writer Kourtney Kang is developing the new series for the streaming service. Disney has been going all out in the remakes and reboots department lately. The Mighty Ducks, Turner and Hooch, and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids are all in various stages of development at the moment and will be coming to the small screen in the near future....
UPDATE: Universal Pictures has informed us that the studio is not in any way affiliated with a remake of Doom. We’ll keep you posted if any further details come in. Universal Pictures is gearing up to remake the 2005 video game adaptation Doom, which will completely disregard the events of the previous movie that starred Dwayne Johnson. Universal is currently seeking out writers for the new remake, which the studio apparently became more interested in after the success of Paramount’s G....
It looks like DreamWorks might see an end to it’s legal troubles over the Shrek 2 DVD. In a story from Variety, the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Los Angeles office recommended on Thursday that the “investigation into Jeffrey Katzenberg’s toon studio be terminated with no enforcement action.” The SEC still has to make a formal decision, the recommendation Thursday makes it “very likely that DreamWorks Animation will escape government sanction for failing to warn investors, before first-quarter earnings were announced last year, that returns on the Shrek 2 DVD were running much higher than anticipated, causing the company to miss guidance....
There is no mystery around the reaction to HBO Max’s Velma, which has seen both record viewing numbers and painfully low reviewer scores for its debut. With so much potential to make something that would at least be relatively ignored by those who have been fans of the 50-year-old Scooby-Doo franchise, the series instead drew criticism from the vast majority of those who tuned in and bothered to review it. With the redesign of the lead quartet of characters being the biggest bugbear among audiences, it is surprising that a number of concept artists are sharing their early designs of Velma’s characters on social media....
