By now, eight episodes into Season 4 of Desperate Housewives, Dana Delany has become a Wisteria Lane fixture, as super-secretive new hausfrau on the block, Katherine Mayfair. But when the actress – who was show creator Marc Cherry’s original choice to play Marcia Cross’ role Bree Van De Camp – showed up on set for her first day of work, the rest of the cast was floored. “I forgot to tell anyone about landing Dana because the wedding was so extraordinary,” says Cherry in the December 3 issue of TV Guide (on newsstands November 29), who closed Delany’s six-year deal from Paris last July – the night before he and the cast gathered to watch Eva Longoria (Gaby) marry NBA superstar Tony Parker....

The Last Exorcism director Daniel Stamm has signed on to direct the English-language adaptation of French director Pascal Laugier’s dark and violent Martyrs, about two teenage girls who are not what they appear to be, according to 24 Frames. Martyrs tells the story of Lucie and Anna, orphans who establish a friendship, until one of them inexplicably goes on a murderous rampage to avenge what may or may not have been earlier incidents of child abuse....

Unlike most shows, Daredevil didn’t call it quits in 2018 because it was unliked or wasn’t getting enough views. The show was an unfortunate casualty of Disney nixing Marvel TV to marshall its resources for the rebranded Disney Plus. Now, with Cox’s uproarious return as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Daredevil’s move to Disney Plus, everything is shaping up for a new season of the beloved drama....

Media Rights Capital and David Cronenberg are teaming up to adapt Wendy Moore’s biography of John Hunter, Knifeman for television. The show will follow the trials and triumphs of a radical, self-educated surgeon, delivering a visceral portrait of the extraordinary and unorthodox lengths he will go to uncover the secrets of the human body. John Hunter rose to become the most famous anatomist and surgeon of the eighteenth century. In an age when operations were crude, extremely painful and often fatal, Hunter rejected medieval traditions based on ancient Greek orthodoxy to forge a revolution in surgery founded on pioneering scientific experiments....

Denzel Washington is currently in pre-production on The Great Debaters, an inspirational story that’ll mark his second directorial effort, following his 2002 debut, Antwone Fisher, according to Production Weekly. A period drama based on the true story of Mel Tolson, considered one of the great African American poets and in the 1930’s a professor at the historically black Wiley College in Texas. Washington will also play Tolson, who inspired his students to form the college’s first debating team, which went on to defeat Harvard in national championships....

A collection of character posters for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness put the spotlight on Benedict Cumberbatch as The Master of the Mystic Arts and the rest of Team Strange. Released via the official Twitter account for Doctor Strange, the posters drape the likes of Stephen Strange, Wanda Maximoff, Wong, and new recruit America Chavez in an ominous red fog. Clearly, entering the madness of the multiverse is not going to be a laugh-a-minute adventure....

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial celebrates its 40th anniversary this summer, and star Drew Barrymore knows exactly how she is planning to celebrate the occasion; with godfather Steven Spielberg and her two daughters. The movie about an alien stranded on Earth who just wants to go home gave Barrymore her big break as a 7-year-old, and also starred Henry Thomas as her brother Elliot and Dee Wallace as their mother. Forty years later the film still stands as one of the most-loved family films of all time and is just as effective now as it was on its release....

HBO Max has pulled the plug on Zatanna. Last year, it was announced that Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman) had been tapped to write the screenplay for a Zatanna adaptation. Fennell would later tease the dark story she had in mind for the film while speaking about the project with Empire last summer. “There are lots of things about her that felt like they could be really, really interesting,” Fennell said....

Sports broadcasting will enter a new dimension in 2010 … the third dimension, as ESPN will unveil the industry’s first 3-D network. ESPN 3D will showcase a minimum of 85 live sporting events during its first year, beginning June 11 with the first 2010 FIFA World Cup match, featuring South Africa versus Mexico, ESPN and ABC Sports president George Bodenheimer announced. Other events to be produced in 3-D include the 2011 BCS National Championship Game, college basketball and football contests, up to 25 World Cup matches and the Summer X Games....

We have an idea of how Evan Rachel Wood will sound as Madonna in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. In the works at The Roku Channel, the film is not a traditional biopic as it will reimagine Yankovic as very different from how he was in real life. Daniel Radcliffe plays “Weird Al” Yankovic while several notable stars will appear in supporting roles, including Wood as the “Material Girl” singer....

The great director Noah Baumbach has been working on a new film starring his wife (and another excellent director) Greta Gerwig, Adam Driver, and Don Cheadle, titled White Noise. The film, based on the masterful postmodern novel by Don DeLillo, is set to premiere on Netflix in the Fall and will premier at the prestigious Venice Film Festival. Venice will also debut three other highly anticipated Netflix original movies Blonde, Athena, and Alejandro G....

Last week’s cliffhanger revealed that Daniel Salazar (Ruben Blades) had not perished in the fire at Abigail Estate. He resurfaces as a gun-toting henchman for Dante. 100 refers to the number of people Salazar has killed. He begins the episode at 96, as we learn how he ended up at the dam....

Lightning will soon strike the hearts and minds of DC fans as a new small screen hero rises. With production underway in Atlanta on the newest #DCTV pilot for The CW, Warner Bros. Television has released the first image of Cress Williams (Hart of Dixie) as Jefferson Pierce, better known as Black Lightning! The costume for Black Lightning was designed by Laura Jean Shannon, whose many film and television credits include the upcoming Jumanji sequel, The Jungle Book, Scott Pilgrim vs....

The new year came in with a bang for fans of Sherlock with the long-awaited holiday special The Abonimable Bride, the first episode to air in two years. The show will return with Season 4 later this year, and while a premiere date hasn’t been given yet, it may be announced during their annual Comic-Con panel, which will be held on Sunday, July 24. Today we have the first photo featuring Sherlock Holmes’ (Benedict Cumberbatch) new canine sidekick, along with more details about the show’s future from writer and executive producer Steven Moffat....

20th Century Fox and Warner Brothers have agreed to allow a federal judge to decide whether or not Watchmen will be released on March 6, as was originally planned by Warner Brothers. The studios made a statement, as reported by the LA Times, where they agreed to allow U.S. District Judge Gary A. Feess to make a final decision, forgoing a jury trial that could have put the film into limbo for an even longer time....
