American Horror Story’s Denis O’Hare, who starred in Season 1 (“Murder House”) and Season 3 (“Coven”), revealed in an interview with Vulture that he is returning for Season 4 of the hit FX series, entitled “Freak Show.” This season takes place at a Jupiter, Florida carnival in the 1950s, with Jessica Lange, in her final season on the show, playing the German expatriate who runs the carnival. It has also been confirmed that American Horror Story: Coven stars Kathy Bates and Evan Peters are playing a mother and son, with new casting addition Michael Chiklis playing the former’s ex-husband and the latter’s father....

Derek Luke has replaced Wesley Snipes in a lead role in Miracle at St. Anna, the WWII drama that Spike Lee is directing in Italy, according to Variety. Touchstone is in talks for domestic distribution rights on the independently financed film. Snipes withdrew because it became too difficult for him to leave the U.S. and shoot in Italy while he fights federal tax-fraud charges. Luke, who plays an Army Ranger in Afghanistan in the Robert Redford-directed Lions for Lambs, is re-enlisting in the Army, circa WWII, and joins an ensemble that includes John Turturro, James Gandolfini, Michael Ealy, Omar Benson and Tory Kittles....

Disney, Marvel and Pixar solidified their upcoming movie slates for the next few years, setting release dates for 19 different feature films. These wildly diverse movies, which range from superhero sequels (Ant-Man and the Wasp) to animated projects (Coco) will all be released in just a three year span, between 2017 and 2020. Unfortunately, the studios didn’t offer any titles for some of these release dates, but these projects surely represent a diverse slate for all of these studios....

BBC has confirmed the titles, writers and directors for every episode of Doctor Who Season 8, which kicks off Saturday, August 23 on BBC One and BBC America. The Season 8 premiere of Doctor Who marks the first full episode for new Time Lord Peter Capaldi, who appeared in last year’s Christmas special, “The Time of the Doctor. He will be joined by Jenna Coleman as the Doctor’s companion Clara Oswald....

It is no secret that Warner Bros. are very interested in developing new content for HBO Max from their extensive list of IPs, with The Batman and other DC stories very much at the forefront of that. However, Dune director Denis Villeneuve doesn’t want everyone to forget that a spin-off series based on his sci-fi epic is also still in development, and has confirmed that Dune: The Sisterhood is still very much “moving forward” as an HBO Max exclusive, although he was unable to give any more details than that....

Season 7 of HBO’s monster hit Game of Thrones will feature a cameo by pop musician Ed Sheeran. Sheeran has recently begun to spread his wings from acoustic guitar playing heartthrob into the acting world. His first role was in a New Zealand soap opera and in 2015 he was tapped for a reoccurring role in Kurt Sutter’s The Bastard Executioner as the ambitious and deadly Sir Cormac. But now Sheeran has landed a cameo role that he has been trying to land for years....

There’s been a new update on 20th Century Studios’ new Planet of the Apes reboot. According to Deadline, the film will be entitled Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, as rumors previously suggested, with Freya Allan and Peter Macon joining the cast. Production on the film is set to begin next month under the reins of Maze Runner director Wes Ball. Previously, Movieweb has reported on how Owen Teague has been tapped to play the lead role....

Airing its first original episode in almost seven years, the sixth season premiere of Futurama titled “Rebirth” (Thursday, 10:00-10:30 p.m.) averaged a 2.0 HH rating, 1.9 Adults 18-49 rating, 4.5 Men 18-24 rating and 3.5 Men 18-34 rating, finishing the night as the most-watched and highest-rated show in all of television for Thursday Prime among M18-24 and M18-34, as well as the highest-rated show in all of television among Adults 18-49 (tie)....
