Illustrating the continuity between its original and current coaches lineup, The Voice will bring back Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton for its fifth cycle in fall and will pair Levine and Shelton with Shakira and Usher for the sixth cycle in midseason. Carson Daly will return as host for both cycles. The announcement was made by Paul Telegdy, President of Alternative and Late Night Programming, NBC Entertainment, who made the following statement....

Very sad news has just come in as Two and a Half Men star Conchata Ferrell has passed away. Reportedly, Ferrell died peacefully while surrounded by family at a hospital in Sherman Oaks, California. Her cause of death has been attributed to complications following a cardiac arrest. She was 77 years old. Many of us know Conchata Ferrell best as Berta, the sarcastic and hilarious housekeeper from Two and a Half Men....

Uncork’d Entertainment has acquired North American rights to writer-director David Beton’s action-thriller, Confession. The film, starring Stephen Moyer (True Blood, Fortunate Son) and Colm Meaney (Seberg, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), had its market premiere at EFM earlier this year. It will arrive in theaters and on VOD in January, and you can check out the official trailer below. “I feel extremely privileged and excited to be working with such a fantastic cast on Confession,” said Beton when the movie was first announced last year....

Focus Features will handle worldwide distribution of LAIKA Entertainment’s first animated feature, Coraline. Dakota Fanning (Charlotte's Web, War of the Worlds) will voice the title character in the stop-motion animated feature with CG effects, which has been adapted by LAIKA supervising director Henry Selick from Neil Gaiman’s international best-selling book Coraline. Selick is directing Coraline, and LAIKA Entertainment’s director of story Mike Cachuela is co-director of the feature. The popular music group They Might Be Giants will provide songs for the film....

In Los Angeles, we spoke to actor Danny Glover who was promoting his latest film Honeydripper, and asked him if he has any plans to return for Lethal Weapon 5, which is rumored to be in development. Glover last appeared as LAPD Officer Roger Murtaugh in 1998’s Lethal Weapon 4. Internet rumors circulated a few months ago about how Mel Gibson had been offered over $25million to reprise his role as LAPD Officer Martin Riggs for a fifth and final chapter in the franchise and that Richard Donner had a story in mind which he would be interested in directing....

The year-long anticipated summer extravaganza, Shark Week, has been airing on Discovery Channel every July since 1987. The week-long event features different specials regarding the various species of sharks that reside in oceans all over the world. Discovery Channel has made such an event out of their shark infested shores that each year since 1994, the program has featured a host to introduce the nightly premieres. 2022’s Shark Week marks the 34th annual TV event, and will feature up to 25 hours of new footage for this year....

Director Neil Burger (Limitless, The Illusionist) has signed on to make Summit Entertainment’s Divergent, a property that has drawn comparisons to Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games. The story is set in a dystopian Chicago where society is divided into five factions, each based on a virtue citizens must live their lives by - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). The plot centers on Beatrice Prior, a 16-year-old who must decide which ideal to devote her life to, even if it means being separated from her family and friends....

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is gradually unleashing variants of our favorite heroes and villains, with upcoming sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness set to ramp things up way past even eleven. Thanks to the recent trailer, we now know that Doctor Strange 2 will introduce the dark version of the MCU hero, known as Strange Supreme, who was first introduced to audiences in the Disney+ series What If…?, with some new merchandise now revealing that another variant of The Master of the Mystic Arts will also be involved in the multiversal madness: Defender Strange....

Donald Sutherland and Jill Clayburgh have been hired to co-star on ABC’s drama pilot Dirty Sexy Money. The show centers on an idealistic lawyer (Peter Krause) who gets to represent the Darlings, a rich and powerful family. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sutherland and Clayburgh will play the Darlings’ patriarch and matriarch. Shawnee Smith has landed a lead in ABC’s comedy pilot Traveling in Packs, which centers on three thirtysomething women who find that living together has benefits; Smith will play one of them, a health nut....

Since breaking away from The Oprah Winfrey Show back in 2002, Dr. Phil McGraw has been a constant presence on daytime TV, with his eponymous talk show coming into its 21st season this spring. However, this run of Dr. Phil will be the last new ones produced as McGraw calls time on the long-running series. Although no new episodes will be made, distributor CBS Media Ventures are planning to continue syndicating old episodes through 2024....
