When dealing with storylines that involve a multiverse, it can be almost as tricky to keep everything in check as it is when working with time travel. That is something writer Michael Waldron discovered when working on the script for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as he almost became trapped by his own storyline. Having already dabbled in multiple realities with Loki, you would expect that Waldron would be best placed to delve further into the Marvel multiverse, but it seems the final act of the movie had him “stuck for a while....

The live action version of the popular ‘first-person shooter’ videogame hits theatres and is surprisingly entertaining. The trailers for Doom had been pretty weak. It looked like a carbon copy of the recent batch of abysmal game adaptations. Doom is a far more accomplished film. It establishes real tension and has a few twists that caught me completely off guard. That coupled with the extreme gore and unmitigated violence will leave any action lover with a smile on his or her face....

Visionary director Denis Villeneuve pulled off the seemingly impossible in 2021, adapting the sprawling sci-fi novel Dune into a critically acclaimed feature film that earned $400 million worldwide. While that gross may not seem impressive for a film the size of Dune, it was released at a time when the pandemic was still causing many theaters to be closed, and the film was also immediately available to stream on HBO Max....

Following the recent release of the first installment, Dune: Part Two could begin filming in the summer of next year, according to reports. The highly anticipated sequel to director Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi-epic is reportedly slated to go before cameras on July 18, 2022, which should give production plenty of time to complete the project way ahead of its release date of October 2023. While two whole years may seem like a long time to wait for Dune: Part two, for now it’s more than enough just to know that Villeneuve will get to complete his saga, as this was not always a guarantee....

Eric Powell’s twisted comic The Goon is being optioned for film, and by none other than the slightly demented mind of David Fincher. Ain’t It Cool News reports that the director behind Se7en, The Game, Fight Club, Panic Room and Zodiac as optioned the comic to be adapted into a CG based animated feature. The Goon is about the adventures of the Goon, a hard-edged brawler who claims to be an enforcer for Labrazio, a tough Mobster....

Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho has had a massive impact on all the films that have followed it in the horror/thriller genre. The movie, which premiered in 1960, is based on Robert Bloch’s 1959 novel of the same name. It tells the story of Marion (Janet Leigh) who is on the run for embezzling money at her work. She encounters Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins), a rather reserved motel owner, who offers her a room....

Echo 3 is based on the award-winning series When Heroes Fly, created by Omri Givon and inspired by the eponymous novel by Amir Gutfreund. Actress and Mindy Kaling superfan Victoria Moroles practically had to pinch herself when she met her idol for the first time. Avatar: The Last Airbender took international audiences by storm during its release in the mid 2000s. Appreciation for this imaginative fantasy series, which drew heavily from Japanese animation and different world cultures, was skyrocketing. A decade after the phenomenon of The Last Airbender, creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dimartino have been named co-chief creative officers of Avatar Studios, a new division of Nickelodeon dedicated to creating new content set in the Avatar universe....

Seth MacFarlane loves his Star Wars. He first parodied the 1977 original in Family Guy: Blue Harvest, which was a hit on DVD. Now comes the follow-up episode from season 8 Family Guy: Something, Something, Something, Dark Side, which pokes fun at the second film in the Star Wars cannon The Empire Strikes Back. MacFarlane announced via Twitter last week that this new DVD and Blu-ray would be available December 22nd, though a price hasn’t been set for retail....

The latest set video from the filming of Fast X has Vin Diesel and Jason Momoa showing off their muscle cars. Released by Diesel via Instagram, the footage is paired with the caption, “Week 5, day one of an intense new action sequence!! @prideofgypsies Blessed and grateful. #FastX.” The behind-the-scenes drama surrounding Fast X has been more dramatic than even the white-knuckle car chases that littler the franchise, but at least it looks like Jason Momoa is having a good time....

Free Guy is a video game-centered movie that took over the summer of 2021, and made every gamer out there look at the NPC characters in their games a little differently. Like other video game movies, there was a lesson about life and living it outside the screen, with a ton of Ryan Reynolds humor tacked onto it. Accumulating $331.5 million in revenue at the box office, it was a summer sweep in 2021....

Set photos continue to emerge from George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa and have finally provided the first look at Anya Taylor-Joy as a younger version of the titular character. Charlize Theron played Furiosa in 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road, with Tom Hardy playing the franchise protagonist Max Rockatansky. Unfortunately, neither of the two will be reprising their roles in Furiosa since Miller decided to go in a different direction for the film....

FX and FXX Networks have locked in the summer premiere dates for new and returning original series, including the highly anticipated new original dramas Tyrant and The Strain, as well as new comedies Married and You’re the Worst. The scheduling announcements were made today by Chuck Saftler, President of Program Strategy and COO, FX Networks. Tyrant Up first for FX this summer is the premiere of the new drama series Tyrant on Tuesday, June 24 at 10 PM ET/PT....

Netflix is expanding its interactive content with Choose Love, a romantic comedy starring Laura Marano. Marano has previously worked with Netflix on The Royal Treatment and The Perfect Date, but this rom-com isn’t like the others she’s done with the platform. Choose Love will follow Cami Conway, Laura Marano’s character, as she looks back on her goals and relationships as she struggles with her future. While she seemingly has it all, a job she loves as a recording engineer and her great boyfriend Paul (Scott Michael Foster), she questions if there is another career out there for her and if a past, or possible, relationship may be the better choice....

As Comic-Con International 2014 #CCSD kicks off in San Diego, Universal Cable Productions (UCP) today announced three new deals that will bolster UCP’s genre library and generate excitement among comic book enthusiasts. UCP has signed award-winning graphic novel writer Warren Ellis (New York Times best-seller Gun Machine, and Iron Man: Extremis - the Marvel Comics graphic novel and basis for Iron Man 3) to develop Ellis’ first original TV series in collaboration with Gale Anne Hurd’s Valhalla Entertainment (The Walking Dead, The Terminator)....
