Moviehole.net recently scored the latest news from the casting front of The Lost Boys 2: The Tribe… Corey Haim spoke to MTV about his participation in the long-awaited The Lost Boys sequel, enthusiastically saying he was about to start filming in Vancouver and that he was “honored” to be a part of it. Joining Angus Sutherland’s pack of surfing bloodsuckers will be Kyle Cassie (“Devour”), Shaun Sipos (“The Grudge 2”) and Merwin Mondesir (“Godsend”)....

It seems that Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert have a new colleague in the fake news arena. According to Variety, comedian D.L. Hughley has signed on for a news-driven comedy program for CNN. The show, which is untitled as of now, will premiere on Saturday, October 25 at 10 PM on the network. The move is seen as an attempt by CNN to draw in a younger crowd and capture some of the “fake news” popularity led by The Daily Show and The Colbert Report....

A teaser trailer for Descendants 3 was launched during the Night of Heroes on the Disney Channel last night. Todd Field’s latest film TÁR, about a power-hungry conductor (played by Cate Blanchett) who is ultimately forced to reckon with a history of sexual misconduct, is currently receiving high critical acclaim. TÁR is the first film in 16 years from the indie director since 2006’s Little Children, which was nominated for three Academy Awards and followed up on Field’s 2001 directorial debut In the Bedroom. In the Bedroom was met with a ton of praise when it first premiered at Sundance Film Festival....

Adding to their roster of live-action remakes of their hit classics, Disney unveiled the new version of The Little Mermaid in an announcement at its D23 Expo, per NPR. Ariel, a young mermaid, falls in love with a human prince in the original 1989 animated movie. She strikes a pact with Ursula, a sea witch, to transform into a human in order to win his love. We can anticipate a familiar The Little Mermaid in this movie because previous Disney live-action remakes, like Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Mulan, have adhered to the original animation versions in some fashion....

Following his hilarious appearance in The Husbands of River Song, Matt Lucas returns to Doctor Who in the opening episode of Season 10 which starts filming next week in Cardiff (Monday June 20). The actor will be returning as Nardole, a member of the human colony at Mendorax Dellora, who worked for River Song (Alex Kingston). You may be able to catch Elvis for free on the big screen as a special way of celebrating Elvis Presley’s birthday. On Jan. 8, the King would be turning 88 years old if he were still with us today. Warner Bros. has chosen to honor the “Jailhouse Rock” singer by screening Elvis, the new biopic by acclaimed filmmaker Baz Luhrmann, for free on that day. The film will be playing in 10 different cities for one day only, per Deadline, keeping the buzz surrounding the film going for a little while longer....

Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy remains a memorable cinematic experience that delved into the backstory of Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker. Released in 2002, Spider-Man achieved global financial and critical success, grossing $821.7 million against a $139 million budget. Raimi cashed in on this success with Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Spider-Man 3 (2007), respectively. However, while discussions of Spider-Man 4 were certainly had, the anticipated sequel never quite came to fruition. Instead, Maguire stepped aside as Sony rebooted the franchise with Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland each eventually protraying the sensational web-slinging hero....

Evil Dead Rise is in post-production, while Sam Raimi unveils Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Although he didn’t direct this film, he’s given it his blessing and worked closely with director Lee Cronin to ensure it gets a fan stamp of approval. Funny that followers of Raimi would bring up the famed cult horror franchise now. It’s probably because Bruce Campbell is in Doctor Strange and not Evil Dead Rise....

The Invisible Pilot is, in a word, wild. The new documentary series from directing and producing partners Phil Lott and Ari Mark (Murder in the Heartland, Could You Survive the Movies?), which adds to HBO’s list of documentaries available to stream on HBO Max, tells the story of Gary Betzner’s unexpected suicide in 1977. Just one day after the Game of Thrones Season 7 finale title was revealed, HBO has released new photos from this highly-anticipated episode, which will be the longest episode in series history, clocking in at 79 minutes and 43 seconds. Chris McQuarrie is currently writing the WWI drama No Man’s Land for 2929 Productions. According to Variety, the film will be a war drama that takes place on and around the battlefield. No Man’s Land is a large-scale epic that will follow the fictional lives of three separate individuals during the war. Their stories all come together to explain the complex reasons why various European powers chose which sides to fight on during WWI....

It seems that the writer of the upcoming horror film The Hole has a few more projects in the works, one of which could have an A-list star attached.
