On October 9, filming begins in Atlanta on Revenge of the Nerds, a reimagining of the 1984 cult comedy being produced by McG and his Wonderland Sound & Vision partner David Manpearl, according to Variety. Christopher Marquette (Fanboys, The Girl Next Door) and Kristin Cavallari (formerly of the MTV series Laguna Beach) have been cast in the film. Marquette will play the leader of the nerds, and Cavallari a sorority girl alongside Katie Cassidy (the forthcoming Dallas)....

Lionsgate had provided us with the official poster for the Fourth Annual SAW “Give Til It Hurts” Blood Drive. The blood drive, benefiting the Red Cross, will coincide with the release of Saw IV, in theaters October 26th. Since the first SAW blood drive in 2004, SAW filmgoers have donated nearly 38,000 pints of blood to help save as many as 112,500 lives. Collection totals have doubled year after year resulting in tens of thousands of lifesaving blood transfusions....
Chris Hemsworth’s new film Spiderhead is coming to Netflix in June, and the official trailer has just been released. Directed by Joseph Kosinski and featuring Hemsworth in the lead role, the film is set in an experimental prison where the inmates get a bit more leeway as long as they agree to take mind-altering drugs. The Spiderwick Chronicles has revealed its first castings for the Disney+ series based on the popular book series. It was announced earlier this year that Disney will be rebooting the fantasy franchise, but at the time, there was very little released about the show and its potential cast. IFC announced today the greenlight of two new scripted comedy series to join its 2012 original programming slate - Comedy Bang! Bang! and Bunk (working title). IFC has ordered 10, half-hour episodes of each series to premiere back-to-back in June 2012 as a one-hour original comedy block. “With popular shows like Portlandia and The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret currently on our air and now the addition of Comedy Bang!...
Fans of last year’s NBC break-out comedy hit series will have something extra to look forward to when the second season premieres this fall. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Betty White has landed a guest-starring role on Community. It was said she will appear in the Season 2 premiere episode playing June Bauer, a respected anthropology professor who also seems a tad unhinged. NBC hasn’t announced any season premiere dates for this upcoming fall season as of yet, but there’s a chance it could debut on the same night as CBS’s blockbuster comedy The Big Bang Theory, which is moving to Thursday nights at 8 PM this season, the same time Community airs....
Hole singer Courtney Love stands by her recent claim that Brad Pitt had her fired from Fight Club, but she also insists there’s no ill will held against the actor - she just wants him to stop trying to make a Kurt Cobain biopic. Daniel Sladek and Chris Taaffe have optioned Graham Salisbury’s survival novel Night of the Howling Dogs. According to Variety, the book is based on the quest for survival that Boy Scout Troop 77 of Hilo, Hawaii, experienced while camping in the wilderness during the 1972 earthquake in Halape and the subsequent tsunami. Salisbury has penned a dozen novels, including “Under the Blood-Red Sun,” and specializes in youth fiction set in the Hawaiian islands....
David Slade has signed onto direct a Daredevil Reboot for 20th Century Fox. We reported back in February 2010 that Fox was moving forward with a reboot of the 2003 Daredevil movie, which starred Ben Affleck. David Scarpa, who wrote Fox’s remake The Day the Earth Stood Still, was hired at that time to write the script. It isn’t known if he is still involved with the project. This latest report indicates that this new Daredevil Reboot incarnation will not feature material from the first movie, so it seems this could be a new origin story for Daredevil....
