Actor-director Bob Odenkirk, who has been killing it as lawyer-for-hire Sual Goodman on Breaking Bad, recently revealed that he is gearing up for his next directorial project, a comedy entitled Annie Jenkins: A Not Very Romantic Comedy. While the title is somewhat self-explanatory, Odenkirk didn’t divulge any story details. He did reveal that longtime collaborator and Mr. Show partner-in-crime David Cross would be participating in a small role. And that Breaking Bad co-star Krysten Ritter, as well as Rainn Wilson and Dennis Farina have all read the script, which he wrote himself....

The Star Wars franchise continues well after the release of Episode IX, with a multitude of spin-offs, prequels, and side stories, both in film and television. Fair use for DVD burners is about to get a shot in the arm. In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, “advocates of burning DVDs at home, in small specialty stores and elsewhere besides manufacturing plants are about to receive the blessing of the DVD Copy Control Assn.” The DVD CCA, the group “responsible for the encryption technology ubiquitous on commercial DVDs confirmed Thursday that a change to the applicable rules had been approved by the DVD CCA’s Content Protection Advisory Council and was on its way through the process of being formally adopted....

Elijah Wood, who played the protagonist, Frodo Baggins, in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings series, believes the films couldn’t be made today like they were back in the early 2000s. The Lord of the Rings trilogy was shot simultaneously in New Zealand from October 1999 to December 2000, on a combined budget of $281 million, and ended up grossing almost $3 billion at the box office. Made on a fraction of the budget of a modern Hollywood blockbuster, The Lord of the Rings series has become one of the most successful and influential franchises in cinema history....

The King is heading to Netflix, as the streaming service has ordered an animated comedy series featuring Elvis Presley as a secret agent. Called Agent King, the series brings in Mike Arnold (Archer) to serve as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Disney Animation had announced in 2004 that Home On The Range would be the studio’s last 2D animated film entry to their pantheon of animated features, due in part to the extremely successful CGI Animated Pixar films. However, after the company’s acquisition of Pixar in early 2006, Ed Catmull and John Lasseter, the new leaders of the animation department, decided to re-open the door to Disney’s tradition of hand-drawn animation. Ron Clements and John Musker, directors of the very successful 2D Disney films The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Hercules, were brought in to write and direct Disney’s first new, hand-drawn, family musical in almost five years, The Princess and the Frog, opening in theaters on November 25th....

Seth MacFarlane is the man of a thousand voices, quite literally. On just the hit animated series on FOX, Family Guy, MacFarlane is credited with over 700 voices throughout its 23 years. Netflix has officially given a premiere date to their Sabrina reboot. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was originally being eyed as a Riverdale spin-off for The CW. Ultimately, the network passed. But a good idea is a good idea and Netflix isn’t one to pass up on someone else’s potentially very appealing content. So, they brought the reboot over to the streaming service and now, the company has revealed that the series will debut just in time for Halloween this year....
