Disney+ announced today that its breakout hit series The World According to Jeff Goldblum will return for a second season on the streaming service. Produced by Nutopia, “The World According to Jeff Goldblum” is the service’s first original series from National Geographic and will conclude its freshman season on Friday, January 24. After premiering on November 12, subscribers have followed host and executive producer Jeff Goldblum across the country as he unravels the fascinating truths behind familiar objects we all know and love....

BBC America will co-produce and premiere An Adventure in Space and Time as part of the channel’s celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who. An Adventure in Space and Time will tell the story of the genesis of Doctor Who, which first aired on November 23, 1963 and the many personalities involved. David Bradley is set to play the first ever Doctor, the iconic William Hartnell, in the drama written by Mark Gatiss (Sherlock, Doctor Who), who will also serve as executive producer alongside Steven Moffat (Doctor Who, Sherlock) and Caroline Skinner (Doctor Who)....

Production began this weekend on the highly anticipated independent feature, Drive, with Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn (Bronson, Valhalla Rising) in the driver’s seat. Filming around Los Angeles, the action-packed thriller stars Academy Award nominees Ryan Gosling (Half Nelson, The Notebook) and Carey Mulligan (An Education, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps). Academy Award nominee Hossein Amini (The Wings of the Dove) adapted the script from the James Sallis’ novel of the same name....

The debut date for the new seasons of the HBO comedy series Eastbound & Down and Life’s Too Short has been confirmed. Eastbound & Down kicks off its eight-episode third season Sunday, February 19 (10:00-10:30 p.m. ET/PT), immediately followed by the debut of the seven-episode season of the new show Life’s Too Short (10:30-11:00 p.m.). Starring Danny McBride and executive produced by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Chris Henchy, Jody Hill and Danny McBride, Eastbound & Down tells the story of Kenny Powers, a star pitcher whose self-destructive behavior knocks him out of major league baseball, leaving him broke, delusional and desperate to regain his former glory....

CBS announced today that its hit freshman drama Elementary, which provides a modern take on Sherlock Holmes in New York City, will receive the coveted post-Super Bowl slot. A special episode of Elementary will be broadcast following CBS Sports’ coverage of Super Bowl XLVII, Sunday, Feb. 3 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/7:00-8:00 PM, PT, time approximate after post-game coverage). Elementary, which has won its Thursday (10:00-11:00 PM) time period in key ratings measures in every broadcast against regularly scheduled programming this season, is averaging 14....

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will remember the life and career of two-time Academy Award-winning actress and beloved humanitarian Elizabeth Taylor on Sunday, April 10. The 24-hour memorial tribute, which is set to begin at 6 AM (ET/PT), will include both of Taylor’s Oscar-winning performances, with Butterfield 8 (1960) at 8 PM (ET) and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966) at 10 PM (ET). TCM’s tribute will also feature Taylor in such memorable films as the family classics Lassie Come Home (1943) and National Velvet (1944); the delightful comedies Father of the Bride (1950) and Father’s Little Dividend (1951); the historical epic Ivanhoe (1952); and the powerful dramas Giant (1956), Raintree County (1957) and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958)....

You can bring home a quirky new look at your inner chi on DVD this November. Enlighten Up! will be released on DVD on November 10. We don’t have cover art for this new documentary as of yet, but the DVD will be priced at $26.95 SRP. The film stars director Kate Churchill and Nick Rosen. Filmmaker Kate Churchill is determined to prove that yoga can transform anyone. Nick Rosen is skeptical but agrees to be her guinea pig....

A three-part movie event delving into the CIA begins on TNT August 5. It starts with the recruitment of two college friends and follows several agents through the years. From the cold war to detente, double agents, triple agents, covert activities, betrayal and the lives and loves of the agents, viewers are treated to a fine dramatic series starring Chris O’Donnell, Michael Keaton and Alfred Molina. It’s been awhile since we last heard anything about Snake Plissken coming back to the big screen, but it seems the remake is still happening. Vulture is reporting that New Line Cinema is gearing up for production on the Escape From New York remake. The catalyst for moving forward was a new script rewrite by Allan Loeb, who was said to have, “nailed the humor in Plissken without slipping into camp, and he changed Snake’s rescue-mission target from a president to a female senator, thereby upping the banter quotient....

Both Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen have publicly expressed a desire to return for a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi. The pair reprised their famous roles of Anakin Skywalker and the titular Obi-Wan in the recently released Disney + miniseries. The Star Wars spin-off received a largely positive response from critics and the notoriously polarized fan base. Scoring an average of 84% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes and with the principal cast on board, fans should be fairly confident of seeing the show renewed for another outing....

The USA Network is cleaning house this week. After cancelling the low-rated Common Law, the network has decided to bring Fairly Legal to a close after just two seasons.
