Ever since it was confirmed that Dennis Quaid would be playing General Hawk in Stephen Sommers’ G.I. Joe, production on the film has seemed to rocket forward, with nearly all of the cast being announced, and production beginning this week. But the cartoon and toy line is known for having a great number of memorable characters, and fans have wondered which of their favorites would make the cut. Quaid recently spoke with MTV, and confirmed some of the members of the G....

Dimension Films is developing an untitled thriller based on an original idea from actress Sara Rue (Less Than Perfect) and producing partner Robert Green (Spaced). Rue and Green will produce and T.S. Faull (Butterfly: A Grimm Love Story) will write the script. The announcement was made today by Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company (TWC). While the specifics of the storyline are being kept under close wraps, the story is a high school thriller in the vein of Ten Little Indians that involves a teen social networking site....

To begin with, Can you talk about the genesis of the project and how you got the idea to make the film? Thomas Balmes:Well I was approached in 2005, already like five years now by a French producer who gave me a call telling me that he wanted to meet me to talk to me about a project that he had and his whole idea was to do something about babies....

Richard Donner’s The Goonies was a hit in 1985 when it was released and has charmed children and adults alike for generations since. Following a rag-tag group of kids in Astoria, Oregon called The Goonies, the film takes viewers on a treasure-hunting adventure gone wrong as a notorious crime family chases the kids. The Goonies’ love has continued through the generations, becoming a childhood classic for many kids long after its release....

The Walt Disney Company was one of those who, having their own streaming service at their disposal, made the most of the ability to put some of their lesser known movies straight to the platform to boost subscriber numbers while people were stuck at home during lockdowns and workplace closures....

Continuing its leadership in the advancement of 3D entertainment and marking the most significant title commitment to the growing Blu-ray 3D market, The Walt Disney Studios today announced plans to release at least 15 of its films for in-home viewing on Blu- ray 3D in 2011. Among the stellar list of films to debut on 3D include beloved and celebrated animated classics The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast, recent theatrical releases including the visually stunning high tech adventure Tron: Legacy and acclaimed box-office smash hit Tangled, plus many others to be announced that will release day-and-date and packaged with the Blu-ray 2D version....

Eastern Promises has recently been slated with a December 26 DVD release. The disc, available in both the widescreen and fullscreen formats, will be priced at $29.98 SRP. The film stars Viggo Mortensen and Naomi Watts, and is directed by David Cronenberg, which re-teams Mortensen and Cronenberg after their critically acclaimed effort A History of Violence. The film follows the mysterious and ruthless Nikolai (Viggo Mortensen), who is tied to one of London’s most notorious organized crime families....

The world of Game of Thrones will be expanded upon with spinoff shows that are currently in the works at HBO. This summer will see the premiere of House of the Dragon, the first of many planned prequel shows that are a part of the popular fantasy franchise. Meanwhile, it was recently reported that a sequel series is also in early development with Kit Harington set to return as Jon Snow....

Elliott Ross had been working as an actor for a dozen years in his native London before recently relocating to Los Angeles. Doing stage work in theatrical performances for The Royal Shakespeare Company, at the famous Shakespeare’s Globe, and on London’s West End, Ross was patiently developing his craft. Aside from some short films, however, he hadn’t been given the opportunity to transfer that talent cinematically; eventually, the fit Ross became a personal trainer, using his dedication and will power in a more physical way (something any fan of stars who do their own stunts will appreciate)....

Action star Chris Hemsworth puts up his dukes and readies himself for battle in the latest look at the upcoming Netflix sequel, Extraction 2. For the die-hard fanboy out there, the arduous journey of Fanboys to the theaters can almost parallel the yearning of the characters in the film to see Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. The film was shot in 2006 and was supposed to be released umpteen times over the past two years – with reshoots and alternate takes and fan protests over those alternate takes – but, finally, the wait is over....

The Church of Reggie has gotten a pilot order form Fox. According to Variety, Chuck Tatham wrote this sitcom about a man that starts his own religion. Ron Howard came up with the original idea and then had Tatham turn it into something workable. The plot will revolve around Reggie Fender, a man who has kept an optimistic view on life even though he has suffered his fair amount of hardships....

Fox Television is teaming up with a hot Internet sensation to bring an added element to its programming. According to Variety, Fox is teaming up with micro-blogging site Twitter for some simulcasted tweets this week. The network will air repeats of Fringe’s penultimate first-season episode on Thursday night at 9 PM and it will re-air the pilot for Glee on Friday night at 9 PM. During both episodes, you can watch as some of the cast and crew’s tweets appear on the air....

The long-gestating Frasier revival might have finally found its home at Paramount+. For years, franchise star Kelsey Grammer has been rather open about his desire to reprise the role of Frasier Crane in a new spinoff series. Now, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that a series revival is “under consideration” at Paramount+, the new streaming service that will replace CBS All Access in March. Both Paramount+ and CBS Studios, the potential producer of the series, have declined to comment....
