It’s looking like The Old Guard 2 is on track to hit Netflix in 2023. The sequel, starring Charlize Theron reprising her role as Andy, serves as a direct follow-up to the hit original that dropped on Netflix in 2020. Victoria Mahoney directs the new installment, taking over from Gina Prince-Bythewood, with the script by returning screenwriter Greg Rucka. Other returning stars include KiKi Layne, Luca Marinelli, Veronica Ngo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Matthias Schoenaerts, and Marwan Kenzari, while Uma Thurman and Henry Golding have also joined the cast....

Chevy Chase starred in the first season of Saturday Night Live and he has no problem telling the world that he hates the current version of the show. Chase is no stranger to speaking his mind, and this is the second time in recent weeks that he has publicly taken shots at the Lorne Michaels-produced Sketch comedy mainstay that just won an Emmy. In an episode of Norm Macdonald Has a Show, Chase criticized the way that the current cast delivers the iconic opening line, “Live from New York, It’s Saturday Night Live,” stating “f*ck em....

A three part film series entitled Blackline International Trilogy is being written and directed by Christian Johnson. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project was inspired by the recent Blackwater incidents resulting in the death of Iraq civilians. Blackline: The Beirut Contract will be the first film in the trilogy. It will revolve around Blackline International, a fictional private military company. Three of the company’s soldiers go on a mission to rescue a man taken hostage in Beirut....

Set 25 years after the hit movie Legion, the upcoming Syfy series Dominion depicts a longtime war being waged between mankind and a group of rogue angels that has transformed the world as we know it. The series follows the perilous journey of a rebellious young soldier named Alex Lannen (Christopher Egan) who discovers he’s the unlikely savior of humanity, set against a backdrop of the ultimate celestial battle as it touches down on earth....

The Cleveland baseball team known as the Indians will be changing their name to the Guardians. On Friday, the organization shared a video to Twitter narrated by Tom Hanks in which they announced the change. The name change comes at a time when many other sports organizations are permanently removing names or logos that may be considered racist. The Guardians name will become official at the end of the 2021 season....

When Dave Chappelle returned to SNL on Saturday night, he didn’t mince words with his thoughts on Kanye West in his opening monologue. In fact, with so much to say, Chappelle wound up speaking for about 15 minutes, much longer than your average Saturday Night Live guest host’s monologue. He first took aim at Kanye’s highly-controversial comments about Jewish people, poking some fun at how the former billionaire has essentially been sabotaging his own career....

Prior to the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, there were plenty of rumors about who could be making an appearance in the movie. These rumors ranged from Tom Cruise as an Iron Man variant, which we now know was never going to happen, to an appearance by Deadpool, which it turns out was a real possibility. According to the Marvel Studios Assembled episode for the Doctor Strange sequel, it appears that one scene in the movie was going to feature a universe where the Ryan Reynolds character is a major celebrity....

Marvel Studios’ Eternals retained the number one position at the box office this weekend. The latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe pulled in $27.5 million over the weekend, bringing its global total to $209.4 million. Eternals dropped 61% from its debut weekend, which is line with past MCU titles, including Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Black Widow. The box office success comes at a time when the MCU is receiving negative reviews from critics and long-time fans, who feel Eternals isn’t in line with the rest of the Marvel titles....

With only four feature films to his name, director Damien Chazelle has become one of the most talked about filmmakers in Hollywood. His debut film, Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench, began as a thesis project before it eventually earned Chazelle his first taste of industry acclaim at its debut at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2009. It wasn’t until 2014 that Chazelle really hit it big, though, with his breakout film Whiplash....

Francis Ford Coppola will produce and direct Tetro, an Argentine family saga starring Matt Dillon, according to Variety. Coppola, who also wrote the screenplay, plans to begin filming in Buenos Aires late this year through his American Zoetrope shingle. The story revolves around an artistic immigrant family marred by fierce rivalries, handed down through several generations. Coppola said that one third of the residents of Buenos Aires are descendants of Italian immigrants and that the story is reminiscent of his own life and roots in New York City....

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air holds a prominent spot in the hierarchy of ’90s television and is widely considered to be one of the best Black sitcoms of all time. The show tells the story of a fictionalized version of Will Smith, who is sent to live with his family in Bel Air following a string of altercations and incidences in his hometown of Philadelphia. During his time spent with his family, Will learns a never-ending list of lessons that center on race, class, love, fatherhood, and overall life in America for a Black man....

Chris Evans may have hung up his shield as Captain America, but it seems that “America’s ass” is still getting attention as the actor was recently named People’s “Sexiest Man Alive.” While many of his fans have responded to the news, one of his biggest supporters has now spoken; his mom, Lisa Evans. Evans joins the likes of George Clooney, Johnny Depp and last year’s winner, fellow Marvel star Paul Rudd to be given the title, and after two decades in Hollywood, the last ten years of which included his tenure as Captain America, his fans certainly believe he is more than worthy of the accolade....

When you are a tv junkie like me, it can be tough to manage a well-balanced tv diet. I’m pretty equal opportunity in my tv viewing habits – there’s just as much reality tv on my DVR as dramas and History Channel shows. After awhile, you just don’t notice how much junk you are watching in a week. Worse, there’s so much more of it stockpiled on the aforementioned DVR, waiting digestion....

Filmmaker David S. Goyer has struck a deal to turn his first novel, Heaven’s Shadow, into a feature film at Warner Bros., according to Deadline New York. David S. Goyer wrote the novel with Michael Cassutt and will also write the screenplay adaptation as well. The first book, film, will be published by Ace Books, an imprint of Penguin Publishing, and will be released in July 2011. The other titles in the trilogy - Heaven’s War and Heaven’s Fall will hit bookstores in the summer of 2012 and 2013....
