Russell caught up with The Playlist at the ACE Eddie Awards where he talked about some new projects, including Cocaine Cowboys starring Mark Wahlberg, and also gave an update on Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, which might not be the director’s next project: Based on Billy Corben’s 2006 documentary of the same name, Cocaine Cowboys centers on notorious ’70s drug dealer Jon Roberts who moved from New York, where he was involved in gangland takeovers of the city’s nightclubs, to Miami where he was set up with a powerful drug cartel....

During the Lucifer Comic-Con panel, where it was announced that Tom Welling has joined the Season 3 cast, Fox also debuted a brand new sizzle reel with the first footage from the upcoming season. Unfortunately, we don’t get to see Tom Welling’s character, Marcus Pierce, in this footage, but his character is described as an accomplished police lieutenant who is quite the opposite of Lucifer, since he’s strategic, reserved and well-respected, although they are also charismatic, charming and handsome....

DC has finally released a ton of new details regarding their upcoming streaming service. DC Universe was initially announced last year, though at the time it wasn’t given a name, but promised to be the new digital home for all things DC. In the company’s announcement, it appears as though they’re really trying to live up to the promise. DC Universe will include original live-action and animated series, classic TV series and films, a curated selection of digital comic books, breaking news, an expansive DC-centric encyclopedia, and access to exclusive merchandise....

Netflix has pulled the plug on the animated series Dead End: Paranormal Park. Based on the original graphic novels by Hamish Steele and developed for Netflix by Steele, the series originally permiered its first season on June of last year with season 2 following soon after in October. While Steele was hoping to keep the story going with a third season, Deadline reports that Netflix has officially canceled Dead End: Paranormal Park with no plans to make season 3....

I guess half of the movie is better than nothing… In a story from DavisDVD, it seems that Death Proof will be coming to DVD September 18 from Genius Entertainment and The Weinstein Co. As you may recall, Death Proof was part of the The Weinstein’s botched release of a two-part movie called Grindhouse. The other film in the set was Planet Terror from Robert Rodriguez. There is no word yet on when Rodriguez’s film is coming out but it appears that The Weinstein’s are making good on their threat to release the movies separately....

When it was announced that Daredevil and related shows would be leaving Netflix at the end of February, naturally people wondered where those shows would end up. Then a report came out last week that those shows would be added to Disney+ STAR outside of the U.S. But still, there had been no information on when or where those shows would be made available to fans inside the USA. Now, a tweet from the Disney+ Twitter account has confirmed that Disney+ will be adding all of the Defenders shows as well as Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD on March 16....

It seems that NBC is pulling out some big guns for its premiere week with another high-profile guest star on an NBC season premiere. Ausiello Files is reporting that Dolph Lundgren will be guest-starring on the Season 4 premiere of Chuck. While details on Lundgren’s character weren’t available, the news was confirmed just minutes ago by showrunner Josh Schwartz with the following tweet. The site also reported that Harry Dean Stanton will be guest-starring on the Season 4 premiere as well, although no details on his character were given either....

Cara Delevingne is set to play an elite daredevil climber in the new eco-thriller movie The Climb. This role serves as a passion project for Delevingne as she is known for being a true activist. The film is written and directed by Hayley Easton Street. Street is an experienced VFX art director with credits, including Justice League and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Eclipse Films will produce the film, which Beta Cinema has boarded and will introduce to buyers at the virtual European Film Market....

Emilio Estevez is reprising his iconic role as beloved Coach Gordon Bombay in the new Disney+ original series The Mighty Ducks. Based on the ’90s hit franchise, the 10-episode series will premiere later this year on the streaming service. In addition to starring, Estevez will serve as an executive producer. “Once a Duck, always a Duck!,” said Emilio Estevez, “and after 25 years, I am delighted to lace up my skates, put on Coach Bombay’s jacket and return to play the iconic character for this new chapter in The Mighty Ducks franchise....

Filmmaker Ric Roman Waugh, who was a stunt performer for over 20 years before becoming a director, is in talks to write and direct an untitled biopic about famed stuntman/daredevil Evel Knievel for Exclusive Media Group. The project will be adapted from the Leigh Montville book The High-Flying Life of Evel Knievel: American Showman, Daredevil, and Legend, which was just published in April. The book will not only cover all of his legendary stunts, such as Snake River Canyon, Caesar’s Palace, and Kings Island, but will delve into his equally painful private life....

Tickets are now available for the 2022 Tribeca Festival, which runs from Wednesday, June 8 to Sunday, June 19. Held in New York City, the annual film festival is organized by Tribeca Enterprises, which was founded in 2003 by the legendary Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, and Craig Hatkoff. Tribeca’s diverse programming features a selection of film, TV episodes, panels and talks, music, and more. Its film program boasts a plethora of categories, from US Narrative Competition to Gala Premieres....

In May of 2021, Sony confirmed that Aaron Taylor-Johnson would be playing the role of Kraven The Hunter in a film, aptly titled Kraven the Hunter, slated for a January 2023 release date. One of the lesser known Marvel villains, Kraven is a long-time adversary of Spider-Man, having fought the web-slinging superhero countless times in the comic books. Unlike villains like Green Goblin and Venom, Kraven hasn’t made as many appearances in other Spider-Man media....

The first cut actually seemed pretty good but who’s going to complain about getting more of a Stanley Kubrick film? In a story from The Digital Bits, Warner Bros. Eyes Wide Shut: Two Disc Special Edition will contain “both the R and Unrated version of the film via seamless branching.” Synopsis: The final work of legendary director Stanley Kubrick, who died within a week of completing the edit, stars Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, at the time Hollywood’s most bankable celebrity couple, and was shot on a open-ended schedule (finally totaling over 400 days), with closed sets in London standing in for New York City....

Somehow, the Fast and Furious franchise has reached ten outings, and while many of them play the same beats, returning star Ludacris has declared that audiences will be “very surprised” by what Fast X has in store. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Ludacris addressed the difficult task of going further and faster with each installment, teasing the twists, turns, and new characters that Fast X will bring. Not much has yet been revealed regarding the direction of Fast X, but we know that it will add action star Jason Momoa to the fray....

The Good A well written show with great acting. The Bad No real extras. The look of this show was somewhat jolting. Father Brown: Set 2 brings us Kenneth More as the aforementioned detective. This 6 episode, 2 disc set finds the kindly father going up against all manner of criminals. Whether he is dealing with blackmailers, dead people, or whoever else, one can always count on the Father to unravel the case even when it seems like he is doing nothing at all....
