During the interview, he discussed how character-driven the story is, the chemistry between the cast, and what it was that drew him to the project. Rossi also went into depth about any potential interest in reprising previous roles. On October 5th, one of the scariest films of all-time, The Exorcist, will finally be available on Blu-ray. The original 1973 movie, based on the book by William Peter Blatty, was directed by Academy Award winner William Friedkin (The French Connection) and starred newcomer Linda Blair, Max von Sydow and Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn. When it comes to marketing, Warner Bros. hit the mark with their release of the remake of Father of the Bride on HBO Max over Father’s Day weekend. As a result, the movie has become HBO Max’s most viewed premiere for a streaming exclusive title ever. FilmNation Entertainment, launched by Glen Basner as a foreign sales company, has established a new production arm and set Aaron Ryder to run it, according to Variety. Ryder, a production exec for Newmarket Films before he formed Raygun Prods., has producing credits that include Memento, Donnie Darko, Whale Rider, Monster, The Prestige, Hamlet 2 and the recently completed Renee Zellweger starrer My One and Only. Colin Firth, Rachel Weisz, Ian McKellen and Susan Sarandon have signed to star in The Colossus, a Boer War political thriller, according to Variety. The film is based on the novel Manly Pursuits by Ann Harries and is being directed by Sean Mathias (Bent), who wrote the screenplay with Myer Taub. The Colossus tells of ailing arch-colonist Cecil Rhodes’ belief that he can only recover his health if he can hear the sound of English song birds outside his window in Cape Town....

Just weeks after NBC cancelled the sitcom Community, Gillian Jacobs has signed on for a recurring role in Season 4 of HBO’s Girls. The actress will portray a character named Mimi-Rose Howard, debuting in the fifth episode of the season, appropriately entitled “Mimi Rose”. A representative for HBO would only confirm that Gillian Jacobs will appear in Season 4, but it isn’t known how many episodes she is slated to appear in....

Conan O’Brien is moving his Conan talk show to the historic Los Angeles Comedy and Music Venue Largo at the Coronet. O’Brien will begin this new venture on Monday, July 6th, which is compliant with government and industry health and safety protocols. Guests will continue to be interviewed via Zoom and there will be no live audience in attendance. Some of O’Brien’s crew will be with him, while others will continue to work from home....

You’d have to either have been living under a rock or on another planet for the last few weeks not to know what is going on at NBC in late night programming right now. After only four months NBC is pulling the plug on their prime-time experiment, The Jay Leno Show, which clearly failed. Their plan is to move Leno to 11:35PM and have Conan O’Brien do his The Tonight Show at 12:05AM, which many have noted at that time by definition ceases being The Tonight Show and becomes “The Tomorrow Show....

AMC has cast actress Danai Gurira (Treme/ The Visitor) in the coveted role of Michonne in its original series, The Walking Dead. Spoiler! Last night’s Season 2 finale first featured the iconic character who will reappear in Season 3 of the AMC series. Michonne, a fan favorite from Robert Kirkman’s comic book series, is a mysterious woman armed with a sword. The Walking Dead tells the story of the months and years after a zombie apocalypse, following a group of survivors who travel in search of a safe and secure home....

Denis O’Dell, the producer of two films starring the Beatles, as well as many others, has passed away. According to Variety, the producer died of natural causes in Almería, Spain in his home in San José, Cabo de Gata. He was 98. O’Dell was no newcomer to the industry by the time he was introduced to the Beatles. He had already produced six films by the time, starting with the 1958 crime drama Tread Softly Stranger....

Dennis Quaid has joined director Gabriele Muccino’s sports comedy Playing the Field, starring alongside Gerard Butler, Uma Thurman, Jessica Biel and Noah Lomax. In Playing the Field, Gerard Butler plays George Dryer, a former soccer player who goes back to try and patch things up with his son (Noah Lomax) and estranged wife (Jessica Biel) - who is engaged to remarry someone else - and ends up coaching the boy’s soccer team....

20th Century Fox has selected Max Payne filmmaker John Moore to direct Die Hard 5. We reported earlier this month that John Moore was one of the finalists for the directing gig along with Joe Cornish, Justin Lin, and Nicolas Winding Refn. We reported in February that Noam Murro (Smart People) was set to direct Die Hard 5, but he dropped out after landing the 300: Battle of Artemisia directing job in July....
