It is always hard to guess where the Marvel Cinematic Universe may go in the future, and when Thor: Love and Thunder was announced in 2019 it was a surprise to many fans because with the likes of Iron Man, Captain America and at that point Thor, three seemed to be the magic number when it comes to solo movies for the franchise’s biggest heroes. Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder therefore became the first character to be given a fourth solo outing, and having found his groove in Thor: Ragnarok, it is not surprising that having lost Robert Downey Jr....

Chris Rock has revealed that he missed out on a few huge roles during the course of his career. According to the comedian, he was up for parts on Friends and Seinfeld, two of the biggest TV shows in history. Ultimately, things didn’t pan out but Rock doesn’t seem to have any hard feelings about it. The reveal came during a recent appearance on The Late Show. Host Stephen Colbert asked Chris Rock to address rumors that he was up for the role of George Costansa on Seinfeld, a role that ended up going to Jason Alexander....

On Friday, I had the chance to visit the set of the upcoming comedy The To-Do List (formerly known as The Hand Job). One of the stars of this new comedy is Christopher Mintz-Plasse, who also talked about his upcoming projects Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall and Fright Night. First off, the actor talks about returning as Red Mist, and that he would like Eli Roth to direct the sequel....

Tim Burton’s blockbuster rendition of the classic fairytale Alice in Wonderland comes to DVD, Blu-ray and three-disc Blu-ray on June 1st. To help celebrate this upcoming release, we recently went behind the scenes with artist Dermot Power, who was hired in February of 2009 to help Tim Burton with post-production visuals on Alice. He also helped create in-camera artwork as well as marketing illustrations for the film, which includes state-of-the-art DVD and Blu-ray menus....

Dale Critchlow, who played Farmer Lyle in the film Napoleon Dynamite died Friday at the age of 92. According to Dale Critchlow’s family, he passed away at the MorningStar Senior Living facility in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He leaves behind four children, as reported by Deadline. Over the years Critchlow became a town celebrity after playing the character in Napoleon Dynamite. He also made an appearance in Kurt Hale’s 2006 comedy, Church Bell....

Director David O. Russell has moved onto direct Old St. Louis after leaving Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, according to Vulture. Natalie Portman, who was attached to star in and produce Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, is facing scheduling conflicts that will keep her from making the start date of that horror adaptation, which has urged David O. Russell to move onto this new project instead. Old St. Louis will star Vince Vaughn as a traveling toy salesman who is trying to reconnect with his distant daughter....

Animation reigns supreme this weekend with the new film DC League of Super-Pets landing at the top of the box office. With its debut weekend, the animated feature has scored $23 million, putting it into the top spot at domestic theaters. It pulled in another $18.4 million overseas to garner a total haul of $41.4 million. Projections had called for DC League of Super-Pets to earn $25-30 million domestically, putting the release slightly below expectations....

The DCEU is no more as the reign of DC Studios begins with James Gunn and Peter Safran overseeing the Warner Bros. Discovery franchise from here on out. The PR statements were pretty loud in announcing the newly formed DC Studios, which unsurprisingly seems to be a mirror of the now long-standing Marvel Studios over at Disney, and its two CEOs. However, something that has also been rebranded in a more subtle way is the franchise itself, which will be dropping a letter to simply stand as the DCU, or DC Universe, going forward....

Along with the upcoming sequel Zombieland 2, screenwriters Rhett Reese are also working on a new superhero spin-off film as well. MTV Splash Page recently spoke with Reese and Wernick, who described their status on the Deadpool film. Reese and Wernick also revealed how closely they have been working with the man who is playing Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds, and that they are “developing it on a near-daily basis with Ryan Reynolds, who is just awesome,” according to Wernick....

There is going to be a Directors’ Showcase in January. In a story from DVD Times, Warner Home Video is going to bring out the Directors’ Showcase: Take Three on January 8, 2007. This collection will feature the films Personal Best, Tell Me a Riddle, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, Payday and The Ritz. The directors in the series are Robert Towne, Lee Grant, Robert Ellis Miller, Daryl Duke and Richard Lester....

Last night on ABC’s hit reality show Dancing With the Stars, Olympic champion Laurie Hernandez and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy performed a new dance set to the original DuckTales theme song. In honor of this tribute, Disney XD has released the official logo and the first poster for this returning animated series, which is slated to debut in 2017. As you can see elow this logo will be quite familiar to fans of the original series....

Marvel has done it again with an incredible opening for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The anticipated sequel has opened with a domestic haul of $185 million, an incredible opening that’s already made the film the third-highest grossing movie of the year. Actors have to draw inspiration from somewhere, and sometimes that inspiration comes from the talented people around them. In a recent interview on The Drew Barrymore Show, the eponymous actress’s nationally syndicated talk show that premiered on CBS in September 2020, Drew Barrymore asked about the influence that her character in 1996’s Scream had on Michelle Pfeiffer’s character in 2000’s What Lies Beneath. Drew Barrymore is opening up about her path to sobriety in an essay for her self-titled magazine. Barrymore, now 47, rose to popularity following her appearance as Gertie on E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial when she was only six years old. At just seven years old, Barrymore made history by becoming the youngest person to host Saturday Night Live, and in 1984, she starred in Firestarter. Her struggles with alcohol and drugs started shortly after, as the actress has previously disclosed that she had her first drink at nine and began using cocaine at 12....

A trailer for Aubrey Plaza’s Emily the Criminal has just been released by Roadside Attraction and Vertical Entertainment. The thriller follows the story of Emily, a jobless young woman with art school student debt, struggling to find a solution for her financial problems and “be free.” The film, set to hit theaters on August 12th, is written and directed by John Patton Ford. This marks his feature debut. The trailer introduces us to Emily, whose previous criminal record hinders from employment, as she looks to make ends meet....

Thandiwe Newton stars as Sandra in God’s Country, a slow-burning thriller with an explosive ending. The film is based on the short story “Winter Light” by James Lee Burke. “I read it in 2010,” commented director Julian Higgins, who also co-wrote alongside Shay Ogbonna. “I think at the heart of it is this question about what happens to a person who realizes that the sort of ethics and the morals that they’ve been using to live their life are not delivering the results that they want....
