Crash certainly got a jolt in it’s DVD sales the Monday after it took home the Academy Award for Best Picture. Variety reports that on Monday after it’s Sunday night win, Lionsgate sold 17,500 copies – more than half last week’s tally (33,000) – of the DVD, which debuted six months ago. Crash, which also took original screenplay, has sold about 4 million units to date. A double-disc director’s cut is slated for release April 4....

The CW has released a new trailer for Crisis on Infinite Earths. This will serve as 2019’s big ArrowVerse crossover and follows in the footsteps as last year’s Elseworlds, which was rather ambitious. Be that as it may, it appears this little corner of the DC universe has outdone itself this time around, as worlds are going to collide as the fight for the multiverse unfolds. If nothing else, this looks like it’s going to be a massive and action-packed adventure....

The first full-length trailer for DC’s Swamp Thing has dropped and it’s pretty scary. Last week, it was revealed the production had abruptly stopped, which means we’re only getting 10 episodes instead of the original plan of 13. While many believed the news means there’s some trouble for the show, the studio immediately released a teaser with our first look at the monster, which was enough to drum up some considerable hype in the process....

Deadpool fans have been waiting eagerly for news on the third movie in the Ryan Reynolds-led Marvel franchise, and despite plenty of teased from the star over the last several months there has been little concrete information given about when we will actually see Deadpool 3 in cinemas. With many other Marvel movies now vying for attention in Disney’s release schedule, it is becoming increasingly apparent that we may not see Deadpool return until at least 2024 as the script for the movie is still being worked on....

I was on the Austin, TX set of the Platinum Dunes remake of Friday the 13th last June and, while it wasn’t until months later that it was confirmed, I don’t think anyone on that set thought that the Platinum Dunes WOULDN’T get to do the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. The Dunes triumvirate of executive producer Michael Bay and producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller, have been on a rampage through the horror genre since the production company’s formation in 2001 and, with the buzz surrounding Friday the 13th, I’m sure I wasn’t the only one not surprised when the Dunes deal for A Nightmare on Elm Street was inked in December....

Dune 2 is officially a go. After an impressive opening weekend, which saw Denis Villeneuve’s Dune releasing both in theaters and on HBO Max, the official social account for Legendary confirmed that the sequel dubbed Dune: Part Two is happening with a first look poster. It’s also been announced that the sequel is targeted for an Oct. 20, 2023 release, at which point it will likely be premiering in theaters only....

Absurdist films can be quite hard to understand, as the general idea behind absurdism is that it makes the viewer question the meaning or the purpose of the film or the characters’ acts from the very beginning itself. Making such films can be equally, or even more difficult. However, A24 was able to perfectly capture this genre in their 2022 absurdist comedy-drama Everything Everywhere All At Once. There are so many reasons why this film became a major hit....

Production on the Five Nights at Freddy’s feature film is finally underway. The movie has been a long time coming, in the works for several years but very slow to actually get off the ground. It’s a project that has gone through different writers and directors before getting to a point where game creator Scott Cawthon was happy enough with the script to sign off on the adaptation. In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, Fox is about to close a deal for more seasons of American Idol, whether or not Simon Cowell is on the show. Fox currently has a contract with 19 Entertainment and FremantleMedia (who produce the show) that extends through the end of the 2011. Fox is working on a new deal that would include three seasons of American Idol, though that number isn’t fixed....
