Danny Cannon has been hired to direct and executive produce the Fox drama pilot, The Cure. The show, from Warner Bros. TV and Weed Road Productions, revolves around a group that cuts through the red tape of medical bureaucracy - often at their own peril - to get care to those who need it most, says the Hollywood Reporter. In other TV news, Tony Goldwyn is set to direct the NBC untitled drama from Peter Blake/David Shore Productions....
Disney Channel made some major announcements today at the Television Critics Association press tour. They’re asking fans to help out on the sequel to their huge hit movie, High School Musical - fans can go online starting Friday to determine elements of the sequel, High School Musical 2. It begins filming in Utah in the spring for an August premiere. At the Web site, they can answer 10 poll questions that will determine such elements as the type of dessert that Zeke bakes for Sharpay and the clever sayings on Chad’s T-shirts....

ABC is close to issuing a series order for the pilot Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which was co-written and directed by Joss Whedon.
