Dustin Lance Black will write the screenplay and David Gordon Green is in final talks to direct 20th Century Fox’s film about infamous 18-year-old outlaw Colton Harris-Moore, a.k.a. the Barefoot Bandit, according to Variety. Black’s deal came on the same day that Harris-Moore was transported in chains from Miami to Seatac, Washington, after his dramatic arrest in the Bahamas on July 11. The film will be based on a book proposal, “Taking Flight: The Hunt for a Young Outlaw,” by Bob Friel, who profiled Harris-Moore in the January edition of adventure magazine Outside....

Recently, I watched Dane Cook’s HBO-taped special, Vicious Circle, filmed at the Banknorth Garden in Boston–the guy quipped on everything from being sneezed on to breaking and entering. But even while riffing on sneaky girlfriends, Cook straddled a fine line that rarely offended. Legendary director Woody Allen has made a career of telling quirky and touching comedic stories on film. In fact, Allen’s resume reads like a list of the some of the greatest comedies ever made including Annie Hall, Hannah and Her Sisters, Zelig, Crimes and Misdemeanors, Mighty Aphrodite, Everyone Says I Love You and Sweet and Lowdown. In 2005 Allen moved his trademark cinematic setting from Manhattan to London for Match Point, which in a way rejuvenated his career....

We reported last week that actor Eddie Redmayne was set for the lead role of Albert in Steven Spielberg’s new film, which was denied by DreamWorks, and now the cast seems to be officially set. Empire is reporting that actor Jeremy Irvine has been cast in the lead as Albert in War Horse and Emily Watson, Peter Mullan, David Thewlis and Benedict Cumberbatch have signed on to the film as well....

Finally, after a yawn inducing summer, we get a big-budget popcorn flick worthy of escapist fun. “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” has been vastly underestimated. The film is action packed, moves like a breeze, and has the guts to be a little daring. I honestly did not know what to expect from the trailer, but director Stephen Sommers has returned to the form that made “The Mummy” so enjoyable. He creates a wide spectacle, but never loses the fact that G....

We may not have seen the last of Gabriel Luna as Robbie Reyes. Previously, Luna played the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider in the TV show Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and there were plans at one point for him to get his own spinoff series. That spinoff was ultimately scrapped and Luna hasn’t been seen in the role since his Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. appearances. To promote his new series The Last of Us on HBO, Luna participated in an interview with THR and addressed a potential return as Ghost Rider....

HBO has released a new trailer for the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon, and it promises plenty of dragons, betrayals, and powerful families fighting for the Iron Throne. House of the Dragon is based on George R.R. Martin’s novel, Fire & Blood, and is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. The series will explore the Targaryen civil war and its brutal aftermath....

Just yesterday we reported that Ben Kingsley and Sacha Baron Cohen were in negotiations to star in Martin Scorsese’s new film and it seems the director has found two more actors as well. Deadline New York is reporting that Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass) and Asa Butterfield (The Boy in the Striped Pajamas) have been set as the leads for The Invention of Hugo Cabret. Butterfield will play the title character while Moretz will play the female lead character of Isabelle....

A new dramatic take on Clueless is being developed for the small screen. The Dionne character from the original movie will be the focus of the hour long series. Sources say the new show is being shopped around by CBS Studios and there is reportedly already a lot of interest from networks and streaming platforms. In addition to a dramatic element, the series is also said to incorporate a mystery surrounding Alicia Silverstone’s Cher character, who is not attached to reprise the role on the show....

Comic Con has divulged its long awaited list of films and television shows that will to be in attendance at this years fest. The convention will take place between Thursday, July 26th and Sunday, July 29th. Looking at the list of films, you will notice a new subtitle for Alien vs. Predator 2, which is now being called No Peace on Earth. Sorry, all you Bat fans. It looks like The Dark Knight didn’t make the list....

David Dalaithngu, the indigenous actor and artist whom The Guardian called “titanic force in Australian cinema”, passed last Monday. The celebrated artist had been battling lung cancer for the past four years, before breathing his last at 60. Raised in Country in Ramingining Arnhem Land, David Dalaithngu was a member of the Mandjalpingu clan. In accordance with traditional Yolngu bereavement practices, his family has asked for his previous name to not be used for the time being....
