Now, he’s written and directed his first feature film, The Tiger Rising, a family picture about the ways people deal with trauma differently in their lives. Despite his background with technology, he’s always viewed effects as a property of storytelling, which has helped him along his way toward telling this tale, an adaptation of the beloved book by Kate DiCamillo....

Previously, Fox gave Firefly the boot after just one season, leaving fans of the show angry at the network ever since. Now, the folks at Fox are apparently open to making things right by finally bringing back the beloved TV series, so as long as enough of the right pieces are there to make it work....

Westworld Season 2 is only a few weeks away and hot on the heels of a SXSW takeover, HBO has released some intriguing images from the drama’s awaited return. The first season ended on an ominous note, which among other things, saw Evan Rachel Wood’s Dolores become self-aware, as well as Thandie Newton’s Maeve, who almost left Delos and Westworld behind, but later opted to stay after a violent takeover. Netflix isn’t wasting any time in continuing the story of Sabrina Spellman. The streaming service, as it turns out, is already filming Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2. This news comes as a bit of a surprise, as the first season of the new series hasn’t even arrived yet. But the company clearly likes what they have and they’re already plugging away at the sophomore season. This news comes from star Kiernan Shipka, who plays the show’s titular character....

A promising update has come in for Chuck fans hoping to see the series get a continuation. Recently speaking with Michael Rosenbaum on the Inside of You podcast, series star Zachary Levi addressed the status of the Chuck franchise. He brought up the fact that he’s been consistently trying to get new Chuck content made, feeling that a movie would be the best way to move the story forward. Levi speaks about hwo the cast put together a Chuck reunion through Zoom during the pandemic and it was a total blast....

CBS Corporation and Warner Bros. Television Group announced today a licensing agreement with Netflix allowing U.S. members of Netflix to instantly watch previous seasons of scripted series that air on The CW from its current schedule through the 2014-15 season. As part of this four-year output deal, Netflix has licensed the rights to stream more than 700 hours of previous-season episodes of The CW’s young-skewing dramas as well as future programs....

Shudder has released the trailer for its upcoming horror film Death Valley, and it’s giving off serious Resident Evil and Alien vibes. The film is about a group of mercenaries who head to an underground facility to rescue a scientist after a secret experiment goes wrong, but find themselves trapped and at the mercy of a terrifying creature. Sounds familiar? But don’t be too quick to judge. Death Valley features some of the best creature designs you’ll ever see in indie horror films....

In Merry Happy Whatever, Dennis Quaid plays Don Quinn, a strong-willed patriarch who must balance the demands of his complicated family with the stress of the Christmas season when his youngest daughter comes home for the holidays with a new boyfriend. The first season of the show will take place over the week or so around Christmas. Future seasons of Merry Happy Whatever might explore other holidays. This is one of the first-ever series to be completely based around a holiday, and is presumably meant to be binged during the long winter break....

Consumer home video consumption gained $1 billion in new revenue in 2009 as kiosk rentals added to market share gains at Netflix and moved the needle on rentals to $6.5 billion for the year. With the global economy in shambles, consumers increasingly sought economical ways to watch the latest hits at home - abandoning purchase additions to their collections in favor of $1/night disc rentals and Netflix value plans. Higher priced Blu-ray discs grew a fairly slight (for a new format) 48%, even accounting for holiday hardware sales, to account for 10% of the overall video market....
