According to Variety, Don Cheadle has signed on to five movies. The first is a biopic of jazz legend Miles Davis, on which he plans to make his feature directing debut. Stephen J. Rivele and Chris Wilkinson are writing the screenplay. The other films are: Traitor is a politically charged drama that was written and will be directed by Jeff Nachmanoff (The Day After Tomorrow). Cheadle will star as an operative embedded in a terrorist organization who becomes the target of federal agents; they fear he’s crossed the line and actually become a terrorist himself....

Doug Liman will direct a biopic of Morris Abraham “Two-Gun” Cohen, the English bodyguard of Chinese leader Sun Yat-sen in the 1920s. Morris Abraham “Two-Gun” Cohen was born in London and moved to China after serving in World War I in 1922. He trained Sun Yat-sen’s army, who overthrew China’s last imperial dynasty, even though he didn’t speak Chinese, and moved up to be one of Sun Yat-sen’s personal bodyguards. Two-Gun Cohen then fought with the Chinese after Sun Yat-sen’s death in 1925 against the invading Japanese army....

Universal announced on Monday that Elizabeth Banks is directing Cocaine Bear, based on a true story of a black bear who consumed a duffel bag of cocaine. Per Deadline, the movie will be hitting theaters on February 24, 2023. Written by Jimmy Warden, the film will feature an ensemble cast including Keri Russell (The Americans), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Obi-Wan Kenobi), and Ray Liotta (Field of Dreams), and is described as a “character-driven thriller inspired by true events that took place in Kentucky in 1985....

The Baz Luhrmann film Elvis has been a big success, drawing big profits at the box office and garnering critical acclaim. With a budget of around $85 million, Elvis has scored more than $276 million in theaters. It is the second highest-grossing musical biopic of all time, behind only the Freddie Mercury movie Bohemian Rhapsody, and is Lurhmann’s highest-grossing domestic release. Add to that widespread praise for the film, especially in regard to Austin Butler’s performance as the titular rock legend....

According to Deadline, actress Emma Roberts will be starring alongside Lucifer actor Tom Ellis and co-producing with Meaghan Oppenheimer of Tell Me Lies on a new Hulu network dark comedy series. The series, titled Second Wife, marks Emma Robert’s return to the small screen since her last television role as Madison Montgomery in the hit FX series American Horror Story in 2013-2019.
