Summit Entertainment announced today that filmmaker Chris Weitz has been hired to direct the second film in the studio’s Twilight film franchise. Chuck Berry was King at the Music DVD Awards Tuesday night. Director Taylor Hackford’s Chuck Berry: Hail! Hail! Rock N’ Roll, a documentary on legendary rock pioneer Chuck Berry, won top honors at the third annual Music DVD Awards, presented March 6 in West Hollywood, Calif. “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe has landed his first role in a TV drama, according to Variety. The adolescent actor will play Jack, son of British author Rudyard Kipling, in the Ecosse Films production My Boy Jack. The story recounts how Kipling used his influence to get his 17-year-old son an officer’s commission in the British army during WWI despite Jack’s poor eyesight. Lionsgate, the leading independent filmed entertainment studio, and Twisted Pictures announced that Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II and Saw III) is back to helm the next installment of the Saw franchise, the most successful horror series in history. Plans to get a television series adaptation of the David Cronenberg movie Scanners are back on track. Per Deadline, a TV series reboot of the 1981 film is in active development at HBO. This incarnation of the project will be written by William Bridges (Black Mirror) who will also serve as showrunner. Yann Demange (Lovecraft Country) is also on board to direct.
