Our friends over at IESB.net recently had the chance to talk to Fox Chairman Tom Rothman about the current crop of films coming out of Fox studios. During this series of interviews, Rothman answered a few questions about X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and about the portrayal comic fan-favorite Deadpool by Ryan Reynolds in that film. So, Deadpool fans, it sounds like you won’t be disappointed as to how Reynolds portrays the character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine....

Frank Castle is getting ready to make his triumphant, and very violent, return to Netflix later this year with highly-anticipated The Punisher spin-off series, but everyone is eager to find out when. Netflix was, however, willing to give us a brand new, brief promo for The Punisher, which has Jon Bernthal going off like Rambo. Marvel and Netflix, via the official The Punisher Twitter, released the new teaser, which only clocks in at 30-seconds, but packs a serious punch....

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier director Kari Skogland will now be helming Paramount’s Cleopatra remake starring Gal Gadot. Patty Jenkins, who was announced as the director last year, has moved into a producing role. The reason for Jenkins’ departure is said to be her commitments to Wonder Woman 3 and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. Cleopatra was pitched by Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot last year to all major film studios....

Cersei and Tyrion Lannister learn about respect in the new Sesame Street and Game of Thrones crossover video. The two siblings, who don’t like each other very much, are seen at a table, trying to work out their differences. Lena Headley and Peter Dinklage reprise their characters as Elmo stops by for a surprise visit to help bring peace to Westeros. Additionally, HBO brought back Bernard (Jeffrey Wright) and Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) from Westworld in another respect-themed video to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of Sesame Street....

The series finale of Game of Thrones culminated with an emotional ending, but fans still couldn’t help but laugh after spotting a water bottle in one of the final scenes. Before you read any further, be cautious of mild SPOILERS below. As we all know, the show had an embarrassing blunder earlier this season when a coffee cup was noticed in a scene, and with no time to spare, a modern beverage once again made its way onto the screen....

Yet more format war news… In a story from DVD Town, it seems that the Chinese government has picked HD-DVD to be their format. Apparently, the Chinese version of HD-DVD will be “100% identical to the US HD-DVD format but will use the same optical technology.” A disc from China will not work on a US based HD-DVD player, but Chinese players “will play their HD format as well as regular US and European HD-DVD releases....

Every year, two weeks before Comic-Con happens, the convention unveils its full schedule, day by day. With this year’s con happening from July 20 through July 24, Comic-Con International released its entire schedule last week, from the Preview Night festivities all the way through Sunday afternoon. This year, it’s become quite clear that the TV side is becoming bigger and bigger, with a majority of the Hall H presentations and much more focusing on television....

Variety reports that Walden Media has picked Curtis Hanson to direct the surfing film Mavericks. The story is based on a script from Brandon Hooper (who is also producing). It follows the late Jay Moriarity and his dream to ride the iconic Northern California break known as Mavericks. It is as this point “where winter swells bring in treacherous waves the size of five-story buildings.” Moriarity practiced for over a year under the tutelage of mentor Frosty Hesson....

Danielle Deadwyler (The Haves and the Have Nots, The Harder They Fall) will star alongside brothers Aldis (One Night in Miami) and Edwin (The Tomorrow World) Hodge in Parallel. The remake of Lei Zheng’s award-winning Chinese film Parallel Forest will be produced by the brothers’ company Hodge Brothers Production. Deadwyler has also boarded the project as an executive producer, serving alongside the brothers in both capacities as actors and producers....

Although the second film didn’t exactly set fire to the box office, the star of a popular sci-fi film and TV series is ready for more. The Daily Beast recently chatted with The X-Files star David Duchovny, who revealed he would still be in for a third film that would follow last year’s The X-Files: I Want to Believe. Following the massive DCU reveal by James Gunn and Peter Safran, DC fans can now look forward to a slew of properties finally coming together in an organized vision. Following his success with The Suicide Squad, Gunn is now acting as DC’s equivalent to Kevin Feige, overseeing the production of ten television and film productions that’ll tie into the DCU’s first “chapter,” Gods and Monsters. Needless to say, fans are going nuts over the announcement....

Internet fame comes with its risks as one teenage cheerleader comes to discover in Deinfluencer. Coming to Digital and VOD outlets in the U.S. and Canada on Dec. 6, 2022, Deinfluencer comes from Dystopian Films and Trinity Creative Partnership. Following an imprisoned cheerleader who’s made to “jump through social media challenges for a seemingly motivated kidnapper,” the film will have viewers guessing what it is the masked maniac really wants. The imaginative story about the teenage sons and daughters of Disney’s most infamous villains will continue in Descendants 2, a Disney Channel Original Movie set to begin production this summer for a 2017 premiere, it was announced today by Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide. Emmy Award-winning director Kenny Ortega (Descendants, High School Musical movies, 2016’s The Rocky Horror Picture Show) will return as director, executive producer and choreographer....

It’s been over three years since Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker was released. However, the world of Star Wars Saga has continued to grow. This year, we saw Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen return for Obi-Wan Kenobi. Andor is currently in its first season. The Mandalorian Season 3 is set to begin streaming soon, along with Rosario Dawson-starrer Ahsoka. Furthermore, Jude Law’s Skeleton Crew and The Bad Batch Season 2 are also in different stages of production....

Perhaps right now is not the best time for Disney to promote Pirates of the Caribbean, as the company has just found out. On Twitter, Walt Disney World posted a 50th anniversary celebration promo featuring Pirates of the Caribbean. The tweet also encouraged others to respond with their “pirate name,” which can be found by adding “Captain + see + yer fave animal.” The tweet certainly got a lot of responses, but not in the way the House of Mouse had been hoping for....

Batwoman invades the Arrowverse in a brand new clip and trailer for Elseworlds Part 2. The annual Arrowverse crossover event kicked off recently on a new episode of The Flash. The three-part event continues tonight on the latest episode of Arrow, which sees our heroes, in their newly swapped identities, heading to Gotham City for the first time in the history of the Arrowverse. There, they’re set to meet Ruby Rose’s Batwoman, who is on full display in these new promos....

Combining animation and live action, Disney’s Enchanted pays homage to the studio’s classic princess movies, while also parodying them. This 2007 hit film, directed by Kevin Lima, stars Amy Adams as Giselle, a role that established her as a leading actress and earned her worldwide fame. In addition to Adams, the cast includes Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, Timothy Spall, Idina Menzel, Susan Sarandon, and Rachel Covey. Enchanted follows Giselle, a beautiful princess from Andalasia, who is expelled from the kingdom by Queen Narissa, and lands on the noisy and unknown streets of New York City....

Nick Cassavetes has produced several fantastic films over the years that have left millions in tears, whether those be crying tears or laughing tears. From the ugly tears of My Sister’s Keeper to the laughing tears of The Other Woman, we know he churns out some emotional films. Of course, some might not know know that while he directs incredible films, he also has a history of acting. When he was only 11 years old, he starred in his first film, Husbands, which was actually directed by his father, John Cassavetes....

Fans of A24’s Everything Everywhere All at Once are getting another chance to see the acclaimed feature on the big screen, as it makes its return to theaters at the end of this month. Better yet, the re-release comes with bonus content to enhance the experience. This includes an all-new intro video that will be played at the start of the movie featuring the Daniels, the movie’s directing duo of Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert....

The Star Wars prequel movies were something of a mixed bag for most fans of the franchise, and when it comes to working on the movies, Ewan McGregor found them less rewarding than his upcoming return in the Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi series. While the next installment of The Mandalorian is always on the mind of Star Wars fans, it is hard to not get hyped about Obi-Wan Kenobi as it is clearly one of the most eagerly anticipated releases in the recent years of the franchise....
