It seems that the lights might be going out on one of NBC’s programs. Entertainment Weekly’s Ausiello Files is reporting that Friday Night Lights will end its run after its fifth season. While NBC refuses to confirm the cancelation, even if the show is done after the fifth season, that still won’t be for quite a while. The series has an unusual deal in that it airs first on DirecTV, who put up part of the production costs, and then the season airs on NBC afterwards....

Do you wanna-..err, not build a snowman? One of Disney’s most beloved animated movie series almost had a very different outcome in terms of character development. According to a report from Independent, Jennifer Lee, the co-director and writer of Frozen (2013) and its proceeding sequel Frozen II (2019), had originally wanted Olaf, the adorable and eccentric little snowman who follows sisters Elsa and Anna on their adventures through the tundra, to be erased entirely....

Put down the books and grab a drink! Drunk History is moving to Comedy Central. Drunk History, a weekly, half-hour series where historical reenactments by A-list talent are presented by inebriated storytellers, has been ordered to series, it was announced today by Kent Alterman, Head of Original Programming and Production, Comedy Central. Produced by Gary Sanchez Productions and executive produced by creator and star Derek Waters, writer and director Jeremy Konner, along with Gary Sanchez Productions’ Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Chris Henchy and Owen Burke, the series is set to premiere eight episodes this summer....

SYFY today announced that it has acquired the hit animated series Futurama from Twentieth Television in a multi-year, non-exclusive deal that includes all 140 HD episodes of the series. Futurama will make its SYFY debut in a special weekend stunt beginning Saturday, November 11, with Futurama episodes airing regularly in primetime on Mondays and Tuesdays from 8PM-2AM ET/PT and on Saturday mornings from 8-11AM ET/PT. The Futurama acquisition comes as SYFY continues to aggressively expand its genre programming following its summer 2017 brand reboot....

Canadian actor Gabe Khouth, perhaps best known for his performances in Once Upon a Time and the It mini-series, has passed away at the age of 46. As revealed by fellow actor and personal friend Peter Kalamis on Twitter, Khouth had suffered from what appeared to be cardiac arrest while riding his motorcycle on July 32 and died as a result. “Gabe ALWAYS put a smile on everyone’s face,” Kalamis says in the Twitter post....

Christina Ricci’s appearance as Wednesday Addams in the 1990’s The Addams Family and its sequel is still one of her most memorable movies, and that is one of the reasons that fans are happy to see her returning to the franchise in new Netflix series Wednesday. It was announced at San Diego Comic-Con that Marvel Television and Freeform have officially renewed Cloak and Dagger for a second season, which will premiere in the spring of 2019. The teen superhero series is based off of the Marvel Comics characters, Cloak (Tyrone “Ty” Johnson) and Dagger (Tandy Bowen). The duo first made their appearance in Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man #64 in March of 1982. Marvel Television announced their plans in April of 2016 for a Cloak and Dagger series....

The Good The acting in this movie is quite strong all across the board. The Bad Sadly, that doesn’t make it any easier to care about these characters. I think the reason why so many people found Closer to be such a mean spirited movie has a lot to do with the casualness with which the people within the movie conducted themselves. Get excited, space cowboys: Netflix has just announced that they’re bringing Cowboy Bebop to live-action. The streaming service has officially partnered with Tomorrow Studios (a partnership between Marty Adelstein and ITV Studios) to bring the classic anime to life. Together, they’re partnering for a 10-episode series adaptation, which has been in the works behind the curtain for about a year, but has now been given the green light. Christopher Yost, the screenwriter behind Thor: Ragnarok, has been tapped to write the first episode and executive produce the series....

While some on social media aren’t happy, Netflix will double down on the true crime craze by ordering another two seasons of its Monster anthology series. Beginning with Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Monster was developed as a limited series by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan. There’s a moment in the third act of Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill Vol. 2 where David Carradine’s “Bill” recites an eloquent speech about his love for the hero known as Superman. “The mythology” is why Bill loves the character so much. The Associated Press is reporting that Dexter star Michael C. Hall has been diagnosed with cancer, although it was said his cancer is in complete remission. It wasn’t clear when Hall was diagnosed, but it was said that Hall has been undergoing treatment for Hodgkins lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system which is a part of the immune system. This form of cancer is considered to be very treatable and a full recovery is possible....

Recenty Variety reported that over two years and $56 million worth of losses after it launched, Disney and a new group of private investors are restarting the MovieBeam over-the-air video-on-demand service in 29 cities. MovieBeam piggybacks data onto PBS broadcast signals and sends movie files to set-top boxes. Users can then rent any of approximately 100 new and library releases on the box for the same price they would pay at a video rental store....

Marvel’s Werewolf by Night was a surprising special that especially stuck out compared to the rest of the MCU, with its black-and-white cinematography, emphasis on horror, and separation from the usual characteristics that make up other MCU entries. It marked the biggest success of director and composer Michael Giacchino’s filmography so far, something that hasn’t gone unnoticed by other film studios.
