DreamWorks and Paramount have decided to go wide with director Tim Burton’s big screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s Broadway musical Sweeney Todd on Dec. 21, versus a platform release, according to Variety. The original plan was to give the Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter starring film a limited bow on the 21st and then go wide on Jan. 11, the thought being that the movie is less commercial and less accessible than most musicals because of its darker storyline....

Black Adam reshoots began last week as Dwayne Johnson and the team put the finishing touches on the new epic DC movie set to hit theaters in October. It’s the morning after Anything’s Possible made its premiere at Outfest LA that we were able to interview its lead actors, Eva Reign and Abubakr Ali. We recently headed to Vancouver, British Columbia to visit the outdoor set of 20th Century Fox’s upcoming sequel Joy Ride 2: End of the Road. The film is a follow-up to the 2001 cult hit Joy Ride, which found a trio of friends being menaced by a burly truck driver named Rusty Nail. Even though ol’ Rusty ate a mean piss biscuit at the end of this original rendezvous, the kinky killer is back with a truck load of tricks up his sleeve....

Matt Damon recently stated that The Office star John Krasinski will actually star in his directorial debut, which is believed to be Father Daughter Time: A Tale of Armed Robbery and Eskimo Kisses. Does that mean Matt Damon is no longer set to direct himself in this adaptation?...

Fear the Walking Dead adds a bit more intrigue to the new characters. Weak brings June (Jenna Elfman) and Al (Maggie Grace) back into the zombie game. Morgan (Lennie James) and his new long haul trucking buddies make it back to Texas. But the mysterious psycho woman (Tonya Pinkins) is hot on their trail. Weak begins with June watching Al’s video of John. She gets sentimental as John rattles on about his love of licorice candy....

Former Mickey Mouse Club star and singer Tiffini Hale passed away on Christmas, as her bandmates and MMC co-stars confirmed on Thursday. According to Deedee Magno Hall and Chasen Hampton, her co-stars from Mickey Mouse Club, she suffered a cardiac arrest earlier last month that resulted in her being in a coma, following which she passed away peacefully on the 25th. The actress-singer was just 46 at the time of her passing....

With the year-end numbers now tallied, Fox Filmed Entertainment reached an industry-high $3,559,521,971 in worldwide box office for 2006. This is the biggest worldwide box office gross for any slate of pictures in the history of the movie business. The milestone was a combined result of strong contributions from all of Fox’s existing production divisions, which delivered a diverse slate of pictures from tentpole films like Ice Age: The Meltdown and X-Men: The Last Stand to The Devil Wears Prada to the cutting-edge comedy of Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, and the modestly-budgeted comedy-drama Little Miss Sunshine....

The Cleveland Show, the highest-rated new scripted half-hour this season among Adults 18-34 and Teens, has been picked up for a third season, it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, President, Entertainment for Fox Broadcasting Company. “Looks like somebody’s gettin’ some new rims for his Big Wheel! Many thanks to the handsome decision makers at Fox,” said Rallo Tubbs. Airing Sundays (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) on Fox, The Cleveland Show features the voice talents of Mike Henry, Sanaa Lathan, Reagan Gomez-Preston, Kevin Michael Richardson, Jason Sudeikis and Seth MacFarlane, as well as Arianna Huffington in a recurring role....

With 300 racking in as much cash as it did, its no wonder that Warner Brothers has swept up another one of Frank Miller’s popular properties. According to Variety, the studio will be turning Miller’s Ronin into a live action feature film. The original comic followed the adventures of a misbegotten samurai that accidently allowed the assassination of his old master to take place. Much like the next Mummy movie, there will be a shape-shifting monster thrown in the mix....

FX Networks’ original series Wilfred, Archer, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Sons of Anarchy are heading down to Comic-Con in San Diego starting July 18 for panel discussions, press rooms and autograph signings. Fans will be treated to an advanced screening of a new Season 3 episode of Wilfred during their panel, while Archer will screen a Comic-Con exclusive clip. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia will show a full new episode from the upcoming ninth season, and fans of Sons of Anarchy can expect some exclusive first-look footage from the upcoming sixth season....

The Chernobyl miniseries by Craig Mazin and Johan Renck dramatized the 1986 Chernobyl disaster that took place in Russia as a “result of a flawed reactor design that was operated with inadequately trained personnel,” according to the World Nuclear Association. Following its release in 2019, the surprisingly popular series became an instant favorite amongst a vast global audience. The brilliant casting and the delivery of the actors, combined with excellent costume and set design and grim direction, definitely did justice to the tragedy....

The CW Network has shifted some premiere dates of its 2013 fall season schedule, allowing for additional exposure and time to launch. The series premiere of The Originals will now debut on a special night and time on Thursday, October 3, 9:00-10:00 p.m. ET, the network announced today. As Danny Bonaduce focuses on getting better amid his battle with a mystery illness, the actor and radio show host is thankful for all of the support he has received. On Friday, Bonaduce took to Twitter to announce that he had to take a break from his radio show The Partridge Family star has not been well, and as of now, medical professionals are still working to determine what’s ailing him....

It’s time for a 70s party on HD DVD. Dazed and Confused will be released in the HD DVD format on March 11. The disc will replace the Dazed and Confused HD DVD/DVD combo version that was released last year. The disc will be priced at $29.98. Tim Burton’s epic fantasy adventure Alice in Wonderland reached a historic milestone today, passing the $1 billion dollar mark in global box office. Alice becomes only the sixth title to join this exclusive list and the third most popular non-sequel in motion picture history behind only Titanic and Avatar. “We feel incredibly fortunate to be able to showcase such an amazing 3-D film from visionary director Tim Burton and the creative talents of Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska, Helena Bonham Carter, and Anne Hathaway,” said Rich Ross, Chairman of The Walt Disney Studios....

BBC announced today that the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special will be entitled “The Day Of the Doctor”, debuting on BBC America November 23. The network has also released a new poster, featuring current Time Lord Matt Smith and his predecessor David Tennant, along with Billie Piper, John Hurt and Jenna-Louise Coleman.
