Stand-up comedian Bert Kreischer is taking serious action with the release of his upcoming movie The Machine, based on his 2016 stand-up special of the same name. Sony Pictures has officially set the release date for Legendary Pictures’ The Machine, with a premiere set for May 26 via Collider. In his stand-up act, Kreischer talks about how he accidentally enrolled in a Russian language class, meaning to take Spanish, but was forced by his professor to see it all the way through....

Oliver Queen (series star Stephen Amell) may not arrive on television screens until October 10 in the hard-hitting new action series Arrow (Wednesdays 8/7c The CW), but today fans at Comic-Con learned the identity of one of the show’s upcoming villains: China White. During the Arrow panel session in Ballroom 20, executive producers Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and David Nutter revealed that Kelly Hu (X2: X-Men United, The Vampire Diaries) will guest star in the role in an upcoming episode of the highly anticipated drama (airdate to be announced)....

Leading into the season premiere of Community, NBC and Sony Pictures Television will debut a Community “Twittersode” Thursday, September 23 at 4:00p.m./PT (7:00p.m./ET). This event marks a first-of-its-kind digital marketing effort between NBC, Sony Pictures Television, and the characters of the comedy series Community. Just prior to the East Coast premiere of Community, an exclusive “Twittersode,” comprised of 80 tweets, will unfold between everyone’s favorite Community characters. The “Twittersode” will act as a prequel “scene” to the premiere episode and will focus on events leading up to the start of the characters second year at Greendale Community College including, making arrangements for their first meet up of the year as well as preparations for their first class, Anthropology 101....

Corey Haim is keeping himself busy these days. After a supporting role in the upcoming action extravaganza Crank 2: High Voltage and a leading role in the comedy Shark City, the Haimster is going back to his horror roots with New Terminal Hotel. Babylon did not turn out to be the hit much of the world expected. The film’s opening weekend brought in just $3.5 million, a very low number, especially when considering the film’s $80 million budget. The film also has an impressive cast that includes Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Tobey Maguire, and Jean Smart. Rob Marshall might be replacing one of this year’s Oscar winners with another. According to Variety, Daniel Day-Lewis is in talks to join Rob Marshall’s musical, Nine. The actor would be taking over for Javier Bardem, who dropped out of the lead role due to exhaustion. Both actors took home statuettes at this year’s Academy Awards, Day-Lewis for Best Actor in There Will Be Blood and Bardem for Best Supporting Actor in Best Picture winner, No Country for Old Men....

David Koechner secures Tenure as comedy legend! David Koechner is an improv legend and SNL veteran who has starred in such classic cult hits as Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Snakes on a Plane and Run, Ronnie, Run (just to name a slight few). It’s time to bring George A. Romero’s unique brand of entertainment home this May. Diary of the Dead is coming to DVD on May 20. We have no word on special features quite yet, but this disc will be priced at $24.95. The film stars Joshua Close, Scott Wentworth and Michelle Morgan. Say what you will about Nicolas Cage and his choice of films but the guy always does interesting work. It almost seems like the actor has made a conscious choice to only make films that he would want to watch and the result has been a string of exciting and often-strange action movies. It seems that director Joe Carnahan will be killing a new Pablo for his upcoming film. After Entertainment Weekly reported that Oscar-winner Javier Bardem will no longer be playing Columbian drug lord Pablo Escobar in Joe Carnahan’s Killing Pablo, word surfaced soon thereafter of who his replacement will be. CHUD received an email from Carnahan himself who revealed that Bardem had departed awhile ago and he has already cast his replacement: Edgar Ramirez....

Sad news has come in as veteran actress Estelle Harris has died. Deadline reports that Harris passed away peacefully of natural causes on Saturday in Palm Desert, California, as her son Glen Harris held her hand during her final moments. Just a few weeks shy of turning 94, the actress was 93 years old. “It is with the greatest remorse and sadness to announce that Estelle Harris has passed on this evening at 6:25 pm,” Glen said in a statement confirming his mother’s death....
