Some of these films often utilize themes or scenarios from their preceding source material to comment on social constructs, as is the case with Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling. While clever in its narrative framework, Don’t Worry Darling recycles concepts in The Matrix and The Stepford Wives, and in many ways, is the perfect combination of both films....

Drafthouse Films, the distribution arm of the Alamo Drafthouse, announced today from The American Film Market that it has entered a U.S. distribution deal with Image Entertainment, Inc., a leading licensee and distributor of programming throughout North America, solidifying itself as major player in the independent distribution arena. The exclusive distribution deal will span home video, digital, television and VOD platforms helping to further expand the ever-growing Alamo Drafthouse entertainment lifestyle brand....

Among the movies released last year, Denis Villeneuve’s remake of Dune did just enough to ensure that the second part of the story will be told. Considering Dune: Part Two will have many of the same cast members returning, and the director had already prepared for his second movie to be greenlit, it is not surprising that the sequel is moving forward at a pace. According to the director, the script is “mostly” finished and with the film aiming for a release in October 2023, it will not be too long before cameras get rolling again....

Maybe we will finally find out what happened to Judy Winslow. Originally premiering on television in 1989, Family Matters followed the members of the Winslow family, consisting of a grandmother, two parents, a son, and two daughters. Famously, the youngest daughter Judy (initially played by Valerie Jones in season 1 and Jaimee Foxworth after that) disappeared after the first four seasons. No explanation was ever given for her absence in the next five seasons....

The official rating of the new entry in J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World Franchise, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is finally out. While the film opened up with a positive response, the consistent inflow of reviews suggests that the film has been mildly received. In a consensus, the film earlier had received a fresh but at-the-edge rating of 61% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, currently (at the time of writing), the film has fallen to a rotten rating of 59% against 49 critics’ reviews....

If anything is guaranteed to have offers of work flooding through your door, then directing a monster blockbuster like Spider-Man: No Way Home might do it, as Jon Watts is currently finding out. According to several reports, Watts will be producing a new Final Destination reboot for New Line Cinema and working on a George Clooney and Brad Pitt-starring project for Apple. However, despite his growing list of upcoming movies, it seems that his next film will still be Marvel’s Fantastic Four....

Over the weekend it was revealed that Game of Thrones fans are going to have to wait until the end of May 2019, at the earliest, to see Season 8 of the hit show. While that is disappointing, HBO has released a sizzle reel featuring footage from their upcoming original shows, including the first footage from Game of Thrones. However, it’s only about three seconds long, which isn’t much. But at this point, fans of the popular series will take anything that they can get....

Focus Features today announced the first wave of its domestic theatrical release slate for calendar year 2011. The Eagle of the Ninth will open nationwide on Friday, February 25th, 2011. The Roman epic adventure, currently in post-production, is directed by Academy Award winnerKevin Macdonald and produced by Academy Award and Golden Globe Award nominee Duncan Kenworthy. Jeremy Brock, BAFTA Award-winning screenwriter of Mr. Macdonald’s 2006 film The Last King of Scotland, has adapted the screenplay from Rosemary Sutcliff’s classic novel of the same name....

It’s finally here! Check out the teaser trailer for the second season of Future Man, Hulu’s hit comedy series from the guys who brought you Sausage Party! Season 2 premieres Friday, January 11, only on Hulu. And I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for these new episodes to get here. Future Man slowly found its audience when it was released almost exactly a year ago on Hulu, but it never quite became the phenomenon that Stranger Things managed on Netflix....

FX has ordered 13 episodes of the comedy series The Comedians, starring Billy Crystal and Josh Gad, it was announced today by Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, Presidents of Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Productions. In The Comedians, Crystal plays a superstar veteran comedian who is reluctantly paired with Gad (Frozen, The Book of Mormon), an edgier up-and-coming star, in an unfiltered, behind-the-scenes look at a late night sketch comedy show where egos and generations collide....

Be warned, there will be massive SPOILERS ahead if you did not watch last week’s Game of Thrones episode “Breaker of Chains”, so read on at your own risk. HBO’s Game of Thrones is no stranger to controversy, with the Season 1 beheading of Ned Stark (Sean Bean) and Season 3’s “Red Wedding” eliciting a number of responses from the show’s growing fan base. However, throughout its run, fans haven’t reacted quite so negatively as they did to “Breaker of Chains”, which featured an explicit scene where Jamie Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) rapes his own sister Cersei (Lena Headey), right next to her dead son Joffrey (Jack Gleeson)....

Season Eight of Smallville promises to bring a lot of changes into Clark Kent’s life, with the departure of Lex, the introduction of new villains Tess and Doomsday, Clark’s newfound employment at The Daily Planet and now with the introduction of the alien princess Maxima. TV Guide reports that Charlotte Sullivan will be playing the royal princess from the planet of Almerac. Maxima will appear in the season’s fourth episode, titled Instinct....

Netflix, Inc., in association with its Red Envelope Entertainment division, today announced it has acquired worldwide rights to produce and distribute a new documentary exploring and celebrating the life and career of the legendary recording artist and concert performer, Tony Bennett. Tony Bennett: The Music Never Ends will be directed by Bruce Ricker (The Last of the Blue Devils, Clint Eastwood: Out of the Shadows), with Clint Eastwood serving as executive producer....

Colin Farrell underwent a dramatic transformation to become Oswald Cobblepot aka Penguin in The Batman and a newly released behind the scenes video shows exactly how the actor was changed from the much-idolized Farrell into his less appealing comic book character. Unlike the rest of the cast in The Batman, Farrell was completely unrecognizable when the first image of him as Penguin was released in 2020. As the movie arrived on HBO Max this week, it allowed fans to once again enjoy the performance, which there will be more of in future with Farrell getting his own spin-off series....

Daniel Tosh and Tosh.0 will continue on in 2014… and 2015…and 2016, as Comedy Central has given its hit series a three-season renewal, it was announced today by Kent Alterman, President, Content Development and Original Programming, Comedy Central. Season 6 of “Tosh.0” will consist of 30 episodes and premiere on Tuesday, February 18 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. Here’s what Kent Alterman had to say about the show in a statement....

Wow… Summer is over. With the coming (and going) of the Labor Day weekend and the marking of the annual anniversary of 9/11, we launch ourselves into the fall and winter seasons. I decided that, since I’ve been doing a lot more consumption of television content, as late, than DVDs – I should post some about what’s going on in that realm. Besides, with major producers, directors and talent showing up for huge TV efforts, there can be at least as much excitement in a weekly series as we have found lately on the shiny discs....

Horror fans have reason to rejoice, as Creepshow is coming back for more horror goodness. Shudder and AMC have ordered a second season of the horror anthology series following the debut of season 1 earlier this year.
