It seems that the success of the box office phenomenon Paranormal Activity has kickstarted the efforts the pioneering indie filmmakers a decade before them. A biographical music drama is an incredibly difficult project to get right. There are a number of reasons for this. A decade ago, the guy who created the animated hit TV shows Beavis and Butt-head and King of the Hill put out a live-action film that was deemed a box-office disaster by studio standards. Despite it’s disastrous label, the film earned it’s production budget ($10 million) back in its six-week theatrical run, plus a small profit of about $800,000… but no one could have guessed what happened next: the film exploded in popularity once it hit DVD and basic cable and that little film, Office Space, is arguably the biggest cult classic in film history....

You can relive a hit sci-fi series in its entirety, just in time for its 10th anniversary, this November. Farscape: The Complete Series Megaset will be released on DVD on November 17. Fast & Furious 6, which is currently in pre-production, is going to be split into two movies, reveals Vin Diesel. The star/producer has said that the creative team, which includes director Justin Lin and screenwriter Chris Morgan, have too much story to contain in one single film. Both screenplays will be written back-to-back, and they may be filmed that way as well. It wasn’t revealed if Fast & Furious 6 and Fast & Furious 7 will be a two-parter, or if they will be stand-alone movies....

Production is underway on New Line Cinema’s fifth installment of the gripping Final Destination franchise, which began back in 2000, with the original film quickly becoming a cult hit. The new victims of Death’s plan are part of a cast led by Emma Bell (Frozen, TV’s The Walking Dead) and Nicholas D’Agosto (Fired Up, TV’s Heroes). The film is being shot on location in Vancouver, Canada. The Octomom is returning to the public eye in a new found footage documentary that will air August 19th only on Fox. According to Variety, boldOctomom: The Incredible Unseen Footage the special will be culled from the six months that Radar Online’s television crew spent living with Suleman and her brood since the octuplets were born in January. A deal to air the special on Fox came four weeks ago. Fox producer Mike Darnell stated that Suleman did not get the right to control or sign off on the finished program....

In a story from Home Media Retailing, Francis Ford Coppola was recently on hand to address 600 film students about the recent DVD release of Apocalypse Now: The Complete Dossier. In talking about his famous Vietnam opus (and the many peaks and valleys it brought him both personally and professionally), Coppola also mentioned that he is currently in post production on a his first film in 10 years....
