Criminal Minds is a long-running police procedural crime drama that has dominated the CBS network for over a decade. The show follows an elite squad of FBI profilers known as the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) working in Quantico, Virginia as they track down and capture the country’s most twisted criminals, known as unsubs, or unknown subjects. Fox is confident enough with what Dan Harmon has in store with the upcoming animated series Krapopolis that it has already been renewed for a second season. Officially, the series is not set to premiere on the network until May 2023, serving as part of a new two-hour block of animated shows coming to Fox on Monday nights. Fox will first debut a preview of Krapopolis on Nov. 27 with digital content to follow periodically between then and the show’s premiere in May, per Deadline....

David Duchovny, Demi Moore and Amber Heard will make the perfect family in The Joneses, a drama with comedic elements that is directed and written by Derrick Borte. Lionsgate, a leading global entertainment company, today announced that it has optioned film rights from Deep Silver to develop a feature inspired by Dead Island, which became a viral media sensation when its haunting, artful trailer launched in February 2011. The announcement was made by Lionsgate’s co-COO and Motion Picture Group President Joe Drake. Dead Island is a global brand first introduced through a teaser trailer that told the story of a family on vacation at a tropical resort who is besieged by zombies....

Ralph Winter and Terry Botwick have picked up film rights to Dean Koontz’s Frankenstein book series, through their 1019 Entertainment banner. According to Variety, the project places the doctor – a socially prominent and successful businessman – and his super-human original creation Deucalion in modern-day New Orleans. Winter and Botwick are aiming to launch a franchise. “These books have enough twists and turns to keep the public coming back to the theaters for many years to come,” the duo said....

Japan broke a DVD record recently. In a story from Variety, video distributor VAP launched “1 million DVDs of the two-part fantasy/suspense smash Death Note… on the Japanese sell-through market on March 14.” This sets a record for a movie released in 2006. VAP has apparently “shipped 500,000 sets containing Death Note and the follow-up Death Note: The Last Name. Netflix has released the new trailer and poster for Part 2 of Disjointed Season 1, with the final 10 episodes of the 20-episode first season debuting January 12 on the streaming service. A 20-episode order for this new Netflix original series was issued back in July, with the first 10 episodes debuting on August 25. Dragon Ball Z is filming in Durango, Mexico beginning in December 2008, and they are now looking for extras to appear in the anime-inspired film. IESB has posted the casting flyers announcing the open auditions. The film is looking for extras of all “makes and sizes” as well as martial arts students and instructors. Even better, they insist that no experience is needed. Dragon Ball Z tells the story of an adult humanoid alien named Goku, who discovers that he was sent to Earth to blend in and destroy our population but instead elects to protect it from an oncoming alien onslaught bent on dominating the universe and controlling the mystical objects from which the film takes its name....

The Los Angeles Times talked with Frank Miller about his follow-up feature to 300, the Zack Snyder-directed adaptation of Frank Miller’s graphic novel about King Leonidas and his doomed army of Spartans. 300 holds the highest-grossing March release ever.
