Universal Home Entertainment is giving Flash Gordon fans a lot to be excited about in August! In this wild and wacky update of the 1930’s comic strip, maverick scientist Dr. Hans Zarkov (Topol) believes that energy waves emanating from a far-away galaxy are pulling the moon out of its orbit and threatening to destroy the Earth. Along with Flash Gordon (Sam J. Jones), quarterback for the New York Jets, and beautiful Dale Arden (Melody Anderson), Zarkov sets off on a rocket trip to the stars....

HBO still doesn’t want to tell us exactly when Game of Thrones season 8 is going to air, but they’re dancing around the topic. We know for sure that the final season of the epic and wildly successful fantasy series won’t debut until 2019, with the network taking 2018 off to make sure the last season is as satisfying and grand as possible. Now, thanks to HBO’s programming president Casey Bloys, we know it will arrive during the “first half” of next year....

HBO is finally going to announce the Game of Thrones Season 8 premiere date this Sunday, January 13th. The network did not provide a specific time, only noting that it would be announced before the True Detective Season 3 premiere, which is at 9 PM/8 Central. This is a perfect way for HBO to get some extra eyes on to the highly anticipated third season of True Detective, though it probably doesn’t need any extra promotion at this time....

An unfortunate truth about marketing a big-budget Hollywood action film is that many times, the commercial tie-ins make little sense - as is the case with the tie-in from X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Papa John’s Pizza. On the plus side, those tie-ins often give us the chance to see sneak peeks of the film, and that is precisely the case with this film. A new extended clip from the film has now come our way, thanks to the pizza franchise....

This brilliant sequel to the classic ’80s movie and franchise, The Karate Kid, is one of the best shows to stream right now, and nothing short of a must-watch. Cobra Kai is a perfect example of how to successfully revive a beloved franchise. Through five seasons, the show has garnered an impressive reception with both critics and fans.There is no season of Cobra Kai that is by any means bad. They are all spectacular pieces of television, with compelling characters that have real struggles (minus the Karate gang war), and so many amazing, exciting action scenes....

Comcast Corp. and Sony Pictures Entertainment are scheduled to unveil a joint venture to launch a horror/thriller-themed cable brand at the National Cable & Telecommunications Assn. convention Monday. The long-anticipated venture is an outgrowth of the companies’ collaboration in Sony’s $4.8 billion acquisition of MGM in 2004. Comcast’s last-minute investment in the acquisition allowed Sony to complete the deal. The cable operator was motivated to take a stake in part to tap Sony and MGM’s film libraries to program multiple cable channels....

Late actor Corey Haim would be celebrating his 50th birthday today, and the other half of The Two Coreys took a moment to pay tribute online. Haim, a former child star who frequently worked with Corey Feldman in their formative years, passed away in 2010 at the age of 38. On Twitter, Feldman reposted a song he’d previously released as a tribute and says he still thinks about Haim every day....

The CW announced its new reality series Crowned, an eight-episode competition that features multiple mother-daughter teams working together as pairs to win a beauty pageant competition, it was announced by Dawn Ostroff, President, Entertainment, The CW during the network’s Winter Press Tour session at the Ritz-Carlton Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, California. “Our new series Crowned takes a close look at one of the most emotional and volatile of all relationships – mothers and daughters – in a highly competitive and stressful situation,” said Ostroff....

Daisy Jones & The Six is a highly-anticipated limited series produced by Reese Witherspoon that tells the story of a fictional 1970s rock band that rises to fame only to implode at the height of their powers. The teaser trailer provides a glimpse into the band’s rise to fame, from hitting the road and recording studio to being swarmed by fans. However, things start to unravel, leading to the band’s eventual demise....

Sam Raimi is making his grand return to superhero films with the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Before then, he made his mark on the genre and helped define the 21st-century idea of a superhero film with his Spider-Man trilogy which ran from 2002 to 2007. But long before landing Doctor Strange and Spider-Man, Raimi had directed a superhero film of his own creation, Darkman. Born out of not being able to secure the film rights to The Shadow or land the directing gig for Batman, Darkman was released by Universal Pictures in 1990 and followed the story of scientist Peyton Westlake (Liam Neeson), who, after being left for dead by a mobster, gives himself an experimental treatment to cure his severe burns....

David Hayter, co-writer of the Watchmen screenplay, has joined forces with producer Benedict Carver to form Dark Hero Studios. According to Variety, the company will create and distribute a number of different films, television series, Internet content, and video games. At this time, Hayter is preparing his directorial debut with Slaughter’s Road, a werewolf thriller that Carver will produce. After that, the duo will focus on Dark Hero’s first property entitled Demonology, which Hayter will also write and direct....

There are few guarantees in life. The sun will rise and set each day, taxes, the fact we are hurtling towards an inevitable demise, and of course, Netflix releasing their annual serial-killer true crime binge that everyone seems to have watched apart from you. In recent years, Netflix has thrown up Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez, Making a Murderer, The Ripper, as well as the incredibly successful Conversations with a Killer series, which has featured the likes of Ted Bundy and John Wayne Gacy....

The Good Regardless of how right or wrong these films are, they are an important part of film history. The Bad I really would have liked to have had a commentary track on this DVD. Dimples gives us Shirley Temple as a young girl named (what else?), Dimples. She wants her grandfather to leave his life of crime but he doesn’t want to. In the meantime, Dimples iscovered by an influential theater patron who sees a big future for Dimples on the stage....

Discovery+ has announced its plan to launch a Black Voices hub that will spotlight the African American community. The hub will include two new originals: docuseries Profiled: The Black Man, featuring commentary from celebrities like Billy Porter and Tina Knowles-Lawson, and Uprooted, a true-crime doc about the hanging of Black teen Keith Warren in 1986. “The hub will live on the platform year-round with curated series, documentaries and specials that will take viewers on an educational, entertaining and exploratory journey through stories of empowerment and entrepreneurship, love and relationships, real estate and design, history and investigation, food and lifestyle and more,” says the Discovery, Inc- owned streamer....

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to be arguably the most important entry to the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe since Avengers: Endgame (2019). The sequel to the 2016 origin story, Doctor Strange, will have universe-altering stakes, considering the state of the MCU. Although this is only Strange’s second solo film, he’s played a massive role in four other films since his debut; his latest appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home prompted the multi-versal problems he will experience throughout The Multiverse of Madness....

The Tenth Doctor just might be the most popular of them all, as a Doctor Who poll conducted with 50,000 fans has named David Tennant as their No. 1 favorite. The poll, hosted by Radio Times, featured all thirteen actors in the show’s 57-year history. It came down to a very close race between Tennant and Jodie Whittaker, who plays the thirteenth and current incarnation of the Doctor. Both took in around 21 percent of the overall vote with around 10,000 votes each, but Tennant squeaked by with just a hundred extra votes to pick up the win....

We are fast approaching the next regeneration for the Doctor, meaning Jodie Whittaker’s run as the Thirteenth Doctor on Doctor Who will soon come to a close. Her stint in the role will be ending this year as the actress exits the franchise alongside showrunner Chris Chibnall. Russell T Davies, who helped revive the franchise in 2005 with Christopher Eccleston, will be taking back over as showrunner with a new, as of yet unannounced actor replacing Whittaker....

Doctor Who season 11 is likely going to look a whole lot more awesome, as the visual effects team behind Blade Runner 2049 has joined the series. Doctor Who is one of the longest-running shows in history and, even in modern years, somewhat cheesy special effects have been part of the charm. Or, at the very least, it comes as a result of doing large-scale sci-fi on a relatively small budget....
