His name is Chucky and he wants to play. On the small screen this time. Last June, Child’s Play creator Don Mancini revealed his plans to bring the killer doll franchise to the world of TV and now, the series has a home. SyFy has placed an order for a Child’s Play TV Show, with Mancini on board as a creator, writer and executive producer. This means the upcoming Child’s Play remake, which Mancini is not involved in, will have some serious competition....

Something is fascinating about taking a childhood character, one perhaps you felt nostalgia for, and twisting the story more darkly. You can see instances like this in the hit popular YouTube video After Ever After by Paint, with 94 million views on just his first video in the series; he gives dark endings to famous Disney characters. The concept was such a hit that he has made three videos in total....

If you are familiar with horror franchises or like the genre at all, you have surely heard of the killer doll Chucky. The doll first appeared in the 1988 film Child’s Play, which has gone on to span a semi-successful franchise of eight films and a new TV series. The scary movie cliché of a possessed doll, albeit in a humorous way, makes the franchise equal parts scary and funny. This vulgar-speaking doll has dropped the f-bomb more times than he has killed, but don’t let that stop you – these are definitively horror films....

Following the shocking cancellation of Batgirl amid a new plan for HBO Max and DC, fans have been left to wonder what will happen to the rest of the proposed projects featuring their favorite comic book heroes. Well, courtesy of a new report by Deadline, the Constantine reboot series from Star Trek and Star Wars director J.J. Abrams is safe. Phrases such as “solid ground” and “moving along” should be enough to satisfy Constantine fans for the time being, and certainly suggest that all is well with Abrams’ reboot....

It seems that DVD’s might have had a bit more to do with Tom Cruise and Paramount Pictures falling out than Cruise’s devout Scientology beliefs. In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, Cruise has had a very lucrative deal with the studio which brought him “about 20% of boxoffice revenue as well as a piece of DVD sales.” With the DVD market apparently slowing down, Paramount might have rethought how they did business with Cruise, especially since Mission: Impossible III didn’t burn up the box office as anticipated....

Teasing the release of Daredevil Season 3, Marvel and Netflix have released an ominously cryptic new poster, helping establish the tone we should expect to see in these new episodes. The poster is covered in red, featuring Daredevil’s mask resting on a single cross, with a church being barely visible in the background. The caption “Let there be darkness” is at the top of the poster. There is nothing else on the poster, not even the title for Daredevil or a release date....

David Arquette has joined the cast of the ABC comedy series In Case of Emergency. ABC’s Emergency, which has a six-episode commitment, revolves around four high school friends who unexpectedly reunite during a crossroads in their lives. The Hollywood Reporter also reports that ABC has added names to four of its drama pilots: Peter Facinelli has signed on as the second lead in Enemies, Sarah Clarke has joined A House Divided, Charlotte Ross has come aboard Ugly Betty, and Sean Patrick Flanery has joined Secrets of a Small Town....

NBC has plans to adapt DC Comics’ Constantine for the small screen with The Mentalist’s Daniel Cerone and The Dark Knight’s David S. Goyer writing the show’s pilot. The comic series centers on magician and conman John Constantine, who reluctantly turns into a supernatural detective. The once petty criminal is tasked with defending the human race against dark forces. The character was created by graphic novel writer Alan Moore. The antihero first appeared in the horror series The Saga of the Swamp Thing back in 1985....

Tribeca Film has released the first trailer for Don’t Go in the Woods, the directorial debut of actor Vincent D’Onofrio. Click on the video player below for your first look at this horror-musical hybrid, which premieres on VOD formats December 26, ahead of its January 2012 theatrical premiere. Luca’s Emma Berman and Abbott Elementary’s Jamaal Avery Jr. have been cast as two of the lead members of the voice cast in the upcoming series Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures, the first full-length animated Star Wars series for preschoolers. The castings were announced on Saturday, September 11, 2022, by Ayo Davis, President of Disney Branded Television, at D23 Expo 2022: The Ultimate Fan Experience in Anaheim, California. Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures follows a group of Younglings as they embark on wild adventures where they help people in need, discover exotic creatures (and yes, this show is introducing a new alien species that “you don’t want to mess with,” said the EP), clash with villainous pirates, train with their masters and learn valuable life lessons as they study the ways of the Force on their path to becoming Jedi and learning compassion, self-discipline, teamwork, patience, and friendship....

Irreverent, a new Peacock series about a criminal masquerading as a priest, seems like a cross between the delightful British shows Death in Paradise and Rev.
